I never knew about KAOSS until I saw your video. I previously owned a PA900 and it never had that feature. I have not got a chance to upgrade my gear, due to travelling. Will do it this weekend and check out the features of the new OS. Thanks once again for all your informative and helpful videos.

HI Qui,
A a Forum Member who will be 70 next year, I have watched your video about Kaoss and it appears to be predominately an EDM module. Your original demo reminds me of the 'Big Brother' Theme tune. Compare below.

Can it be adapted for use in other types of music, Funk, Latin, pop, ballad, Country, etc or is it pretty much a one trick pony ?

Hi Qui ,
I see you playing with the KAOSS without your finger on the screen .
When I take off my finger the KAOSS does nothing .
Is this something with the Freeze function ?
When I touch the Freezefunction nothing happens .
What am I doing wrong ?
I have the PA5X Musikant .

Indeed, I use the freeze function, it works as follows:
- touch the screen
- press the shift button
- hold the shift button and release your finger from the screen
- now the parameter is frozen and if you want to unfreeze it, just touch the screen again

the arpeggiator and repeater effects aren't really used in Non-EDM styles. But you can use the density transformation effects on any style, these are really convenient to make your styles less or more busy.
Just experiment with them, it's fun to use them

Thanks Qui, if there’s any other tips you can think of that helps us “oldies”

get use out of this function for non edm type music, be greatly appreciated.
That’s why I’d never explored this function.

Thank you, Qui. This video is just what we need to get a good idea of how it works, which I could never visualize.
Can anything be saved or is it all temporary?

I tried the KAOSS functionality and it is amazing. The density function is quiet useful, to be able to mute or bring back in the accompaniments.
Is it possible to create our very own KAOSS presets either from scratch or by tweaking existing presets OR are we limited to only the factory provided ones.

You can't add your own presets to them, just use the factory ones they have included. You will notice that you will stick till around 8 effects that you will use a lot, just add those to the quick selection, so you have them available in every song or style.

My first experience with the Kaoss feature in a song can be found at the end of this performance:

Kaoss needs some investigation and (a lot of) practice, but it’s very cool!
Thanks again Qui for the superb tutorial!
