User Style Locations

Hello,

I've recently bought a Pa600 and going through the specs I saw that the user style area notes "Up to 1,200 available Style locations including the Favorite/User banks".

I am trying to figure out where the 1200 locations are as I can only account for 600 (which is 15x40 styles), unless I am missing where the other 600 locations are!.

Any help would be great,

600: Factory styles 15x40
600: Favourite/User styles 15x40
-----
1200: Total

Factory styles can be overwritten by unprotecting them in GLOBAL>>MODE PREFERENCES>>MEDIA
...hence you have 1200 style locations for anything you want....

Ah ha ! OK, I was hoping it wasn't that but waiting for someone who absolutely knew the answer for sure to confirm it.

So in other words it's not really 1200 locations to play with (unless you want to completely modify your keyboard!).

I was kind of hoping there was an extra 600 blank locations by using the DIRECT option like on the Pa700/Pa1000/Pa4x series.

Well it is, actually. This has been available in most models to date (excluding PA5x which is different).
It's great because, for example, if you don't like/use a particular genre, you can use the whole bank(s) or locations for your choice of different styles.
Factory styles are there just as a base for you to work from - use/modify or replace as you wish.
