Korg Kronos 2 are there new string/choir sounds available?

Hi everyone. I have a Korg Kronos 2 from 2016 that I love.
I am having trouble figuring out if any of the sound packages that can be obtained from Korg would improve the string and/or choir sounds available.
Perhaps more electric guitar as well.

I just do not understand which sound packages are for Kronos 1 versus 2, etc.

As a side note - if I wanted a keyboard with great sound like the Kronos 2, but wanted something lighter for air travel to gigs, any ideas?

Thanks,
AB

Hi there,

There are plenty of additional libraries you can find/buy for the Kronos :

http://shop.korg.com/kronos

I bought some and find them good - each for their particular character. You just have to install the demo versions of them, test them and then either uninstall them or buy the authorization code if you think they can be useful for you.

I understand. But do they all have new sounds for the Kronos 2, or are they meant to get get earlier versions up to the Kronos 2 sounds?
It is hard to tell which ones are upgrades from the 2.
I would prefer not to waste time on demos of sounds that are already in the version 2.
Thanks.

You don't have to worry about that : all third party sounds banks in Shop Korg are new to Kronos, whatever version 1, X, 2, SE. They are additions to factory sounds banks.
So, If you donwload a demo on shop korg, you will hear new sounds. Downloading a demo is the only and good way to know if the sound bank suits you.

Pretty certain the one called “New KRONOS Sound Pack” is the only one that is already included with the K2. Italian Grand is included with the Kronos SE. Everything else is new content.

Hi

What size is your keyboard?
If you want quality sounds on a budget, you could consider the Yamaha MODX family. They are extremely light and more compact than most

All the best !

I also like the MODX, specifically the 88. The other key bed sizes are too budget for me. Many don't care so its a IMO.

MODX interesting. I want a light keyboard that can go on an air flight with an extra fee because of weight. That is why I would probably have to go with 61 key or even less. Thanks!!!

FYI, here in US, you can't use over head for a 61, for most airlines.

I am not sure about carry on and then seeing if they have any other on flight storage

My interest was a keyboard in a case that weighs no more than 50 pounds. The flight cases are heavy - sometimes 30 pounds just for the case! Thanks.
MODX was interesting.

Can someone describe to me how the update procedure in Kronos 2 works for free:
https://shop.korg.com/Kronos/Promo-KORG1
step by step :)
I want to buy a used Korg Kronos 2 - what do I need to download and install this pack for free? serial number only? Is serial number assigned to user / @? How is Virus Ti?
Write me more about it ....

The New KRONOS Sound Pack is meant to bring the original "blacksides" Kronos (2011) and Kronos X up to the spec of the Kronos 2, so a used Kronos 2 should already have this sound pack, unless the owner has deleted the relevant files from the system.

The info on purchasing and installing additional sound packs can be obtained from a link on the page you gave i.e.:

https://shop.korg.com/Kronos/Promo-KORG1

There is a "Question mark" icon that is the link to this info.

What was the question exactly, regarding the Virus TI?
