Hanging Notes

Post by Mitzie »

Over the years whenever I have experienced 'hanging notes' during a performance I have discovered that going into and adjusting tone sustain even by a single increment cures the problem? If this tone adjustment is saved in registration memory hitting the registration button, in a hanging note emergency, causes the hanging note to cease.

I don't have an EK-50 to try it out. but it seems to work with other makes of keyboard when hanging notes occur -so EK-50 owners might like to give this a try and feedback on the Forum?

As others have said, this is a great little keyboard with plenty of live performance potential, not too complicated to play well on the fly. -I'm tempted to buy one

Hanging Notes

Post by Denodan »

I just bought an ek 50 and find at odd times I get a hanging note. I know its linked to having note 1 on and essemble.

So if I have all 3 upper voices on and essemble on at the odd times get a hanging note. Hit voice 1 and turns it off.

It's a bit frustrating as I also have the Casio ctx 5000 and suffers none of these issues.

Only had it a week

Since my original post I have now purchased an EK-50 and am quite happy with its performance.

My earlier keyboard was a Casio MZ-X500 which regularly suffered from hanging notes and my original post was found to be a 'work around' when playing the Casio live. I have since sold the MZ-X500

Den - It did seem to be more of an issue when this board was first launched...
Since the updates, it does seem to have improved....well I have found this ( just had a couple of situations in the last year, whereas it was happening before quite regular )

Thanks for the info anyway - might be useful

Mine is doing this regularly even with the new update. It's to the point the keyboard is unusable

I can only re-iterate my reply in your other 2 posts Den - Sorry .... Others may come up with a better solution ....

If you can solve this issue, I am sure you will find it is an excellent board for the money.

I would take I back to where you bought it from and get another one. Maybe you've got a faulty unit.

I got it replaced with a new one. Still did it.

Thought I would go through settings. Seems by default the pedal is on and set to damper. Turned pedal off and the issue is gone.
