.....I've got a music pal who's quite badly sighted.... (RNIB)....plays guitar...
He/we are looking for an app or setup that runs from a pad (Android)...that will allow him to simply tap the screen that has a large grid layout (perhaps 1 to 8 columms across and 4 rows down) with a particular number and play that particular backing track/karaoke..
Just tap a large number on screen and then play the backing track for him...
Anyone got any suggestions as to how this can be accomplished or perhaps an app already exists..... any help most welcome....

If the backing tracks can be copied to the device as MP3 files, then the built in file system browser might be pressed into service.
It can be found in: Tools | Myfiles. Create a subdirectory to contain the tracks, and copy the mp3 files to it, then press and hold the containing folder, and do: More | Add shortcut to Home screen.
The icon on the home screen can then be used to navigate directly to the mp3 file folder, and tracks selected using icon location, rather than a number on the icon. A typically 4 x 6 grid array of icons will be displayed, so if up to 24 mp3 files are stored in the directory, it should be possible to learn the song in each track based on its position on the screen.
