PlugKey+iPad Air 2=unresponsiveness

So I just received Korg PlugKey and was excited to use it in my studio. However, when I plug it into the iPad, it becomes unreponsive.
The apple on-screen keyboard sometimes registers many keystrokes or none at all and the Korg Gadget interface is annoying to use. The touch response seems to 'lose contact' all the time. For this reason it's really hard to lenghten notes or select multiple notes using the lasso select tool in the piano roll as well. Synth knobs are hard to tweak etc.
All this disappears when I remove the PlugKey.

Any users with the same issues? Comments?

My Plugkey screws up the iPad for unknown reasons from time to time. Sometimes I get the "hardware not supported" message and it stops to work.
I have to reboot the iPad to be able to use the PlugKey again.

iPad is A1566, runing iOS 12.1.3
