Mixing sequencer recording modes - help

I am having some issues with sequencing and not sure if this is a design issue or problem...

1. I created a sequence using "Backing Sequencer" - all good
2. I needed to change some track volumes and programs so I entered/modified these CCs in "Event Edit" - all worked fine
3. I then needed to modify a single chord half way through the song and did this in "Step Record" mode BUT all my additional CCs and prog changes were removed or changed back.

Is this because I used 2 sequencer modes? (i.e. Backing Sequencer and Step Record)

Cheers

Hi Pete,
When I get a chance later , I'll try what you did , on my pa3x and see if the same thing happens.
At least it should prove if it's a bug or you can't do what you did.
I don't use the sequencer that often, so don 'to know.

There's certainly bugs in the pa4x, the one affecting me the most , XG voices in my style tracks, defaulting to GM . I'm having to update all my Psr style conversions.

I'll let you know.

Hi Pete,
Actually tried it on my pa4x
I did same as you .
Same result.
I then recorded.
Went to step backing , changed chord.
Then did program change edits in event edit .saved,
Works fine.
Maybe you have to do it in that order.

Now also tried it in my pa3x, it does same thing as pa4x.

Thanks so much for trying that Rikki.

I came to the same conclusion regarding the order in which to do the editing - the sad thing was that I had just about finished one song and just wanted to change 4 chords within the sequence - I did this in step record mode at the end and of course all my manual CC editing disappeared - luckily I save save save as I record so could recall my previous edits.

Thanks again

Hi Pete
no problem, at least it's not a bug.
Lucky you did those saves, all was not lost.

I ran into the same bump when making my first sequence - was just about done and went to make some chord changes, and then realized my perfect levels and other settings had changed back.

This is due to the default MIDI control changes (CC's) for that particular Style getting re-written to the tracks each time you make changes in Step Backing Sequence mode.

Note that any track patch changes will get reverted as well.

The Pa4X has taught me to save, save, save, and backup some more as well!
