Sustain decay

Hello,

How can I set the sustain to gradually decay when I press the damper pedal? It works for guitars, pianos but not for certain sounds (trumpets, strings, clarinet, violin, accordion etc).

My goal is to be able press the damper pedal and upon release of the key, to let the sounds naturally decay /fade out. As of now, when I press the sustain pedal, the sound just lasts indefinitely, and abruptly stops when I release the sustain pedal.

I understand that some instruments do not naturally have the ability to sustain their sound the way a guitar or a piano would, but I would still like to learn how to work this out.

Thanks for your help!
Evan

Is many ways, maybe even better, but I can tell how I would do something like this.
1. Plug sustain Pedal to Assignable input.
2. Go to global menu and assign this pedal to Sound Controller 1.
3. Choose sound you want to deal with.
4. Go to edit sound. ( Shift + Sound Edit)
5. Clone sound ( write sound in user location, that way you still have original)
6. In cloned sound go to menu and Basic/ Sound Basic.
7. Double Oscillator Count (if is 2 make 4, if 3 make 6 etc)
8. Go to Osc Basic and copy 1 OSC to 1-st new (to 3 if was 2 before)
9. Do same to rest OSC ( copy 2 to 4 etc)
10. In new OSC set Trigger Mode to Sound Controller 1 ( to all new)
11. Go to menu/Amp/ Amp EG
12. Adjust decay and release in your all new OSC.
13. Save it (overwrite "write sound" )
The new OSC is going to fire only when you press and hold pedal, but as extra sound, so maybe you have involve more adjustment like velocity, delay etc
************************
While you adjusting sound you can try before save it, making sound is art, so do whatever is work for you best, be creative, is all there. :)
Hope that's help or at least give you clue how can be done.
Good Luck

Hi Nemik,

Thank you very much for your help, I would not have thought this on my own.

Cheers :)
