foot controller jack won't work on original Kronos

Post by arapahoe »

on my original Kronos the foot pedal jack has stopped working. I have gone to the Global/controllers /scales tab and set the "foot Pedal Assign" to Expression (CC#11) and the pedal does not work.

Yes I have used the pedal with other keyboards and the it works as an expression pedal just fine! It is NOT the pedal.

I have downloaded and re-installed the 3.0.3 update to no avail.

Do you think I should reformat the hard drive and reinstall from the original disks?

Has ANYONE had a similar or exact problem?

the pedal has worked great for years and the sustain and "switch" pedals work just fine. Only the "Foot Pedal" 1/4" jack has the problem.

Help???

Never had an issue with the foot controllers

Before doing anything drastic, I would try first another footcontroller and or cable,

Guess you are sure that you're not accidentally using a program/combi where you switched off the foot controller?

Not sure if harddisk reformatting will help if above things do not help

A common repair I encounter is jacks that stop working. It's usually mechanical. A broken solder connection due to stress on the jack from the things plugged into them. Highly unlikely a software issue.

Most products made today solder the jacks directly to a circuit board. There is typically no other layer of securing the jack other than the solder. Plugging in and out stresses the solder connections. I also see where an extreme stress of a tripping over the wire etc. can break the jack (plastic) itself.
