Sharp wrote:That's very interesting. Additional RAM doesn't magically appear unless something that was previously using that RAM no longer needs it. I wonder does this mean KORG are now streaming the factory PCM data.

Tempted to buy a Pa4X. Even to develop and sell sample libraries for it.

Sharp
Factory was always streaming!!Now they made user too!!
Very exciting!
I wonder where they found the space to store the 1.5 gb sample files in eMMC as there wasn't so much space free!!
I can only think of 1 possible solution!!Deleting the backup rom files to make space as these are not being used anyway!
We will learn more of the inside work when the os will get public!!
There is no streaming for user samples.
If you have a look on the Sample Info page*, it shows 1.50 GB max for the Samples Size and 400.00 MB for the Preload Buffer Size.
This means that the real time samples memory you can have active at the same time (all the sounds currently in use) is still limited to 400M.
But the additional samples are ready for the next sound selection.
All these numbers may be doubled if you use only compressed samples.

*Sample Info page can be seen here (at 16:10): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-Q27UKFKYg

The man on the video had been loaded a set, that set approximately 280 mb and 10.000 more sounds. question; if it is 10.000 sounds from 280 mb set, if we use 800mb set, what will happen sounds after 17.028? Also, why it shows 400 mb, what s the mean of preload buffer size? Will it be 400 mb or 1.5 gb? if i have a set which its size 1gb, can not i load it to 4x? Why there is 400 mb, why there is 1.5gb? What are their mean?

When you play your Keyboard, you simultaneously use only part of all the user samples you can load into the 1.50 GO.
This subset of samples must fit in the 400 MO.
I cannot guess what will happen if the subset will not fit in the Preload Buffer. May be some of the samples will not be heard or maybe there will be an error message.
In addition, it may also not allow a single sample to be larger than the Preload Buffer.

Should we have a Pool / Lottery to see who can predict the "Release Date" correct. The winner win's Korgi of the Month and get's a prime parking space!

I am going to bet 2/28 is the release date!

Any bets?

After 10.000 samples we will put samples more carefully ;)
Pa4x's physical RAM memory is 400mb. I think buffer memory will be loaded to RAM and other memory will be loaded to disk as temporary files...

I've been on this forum for many years and have always appreciated Sam from CA and Pete from AU. They are very knowledgeable and forthright, no BS from them. Keep it up fellas. I turned 78 today and am still playing out. Having had nearly all of the Korg arranger's in my time, I still haven't figured them out. I'll wait until some of you install this new OS before I give it a try. Keep playing everyone!
