agreed, the Genos introduced Revo drums, but practically speaking, I could hear no impact to the overall style variations. Also, the Genos workflow is horrible in that it doesn't have a Songlist. It has Registrations and Playlist??? The number of button pushes to create a Playlist or save a registration are too many.

Since I purchased the pa1000, will never pay double the money for a 4x or similar. It replaced my PA3x. Nice sound and light weight. Yes miss some of the hardware features, but still satisfied.

So, an excellent decision for you.

PA4X has over double the features but it is important to determine exactly what you need - well done - PA1000 is a great machine.
I think that if I couldn't have afforded my PA4X, I would have kept my PA3X rather than go for a PA1000 - but that's just personal

In my view it is not about affordability, but needed more compact. I use these arrangers as backing for my Roland Vaccordion. Which is my main instrument. And with some gigs with just keyboard, quicker/easy setup. PA3x or a Pa4x, weight issues...work 6 nights a week at a German restaurant and need two complete setups, one for indoors and perform outdoors on certain days. Need two of everything! Pa1000 fits my needs.
Even went with the lighter vaccordion FR4x which too has less features then the flagship FR8x, but it is too heavy to perform 6 nights, sometimes strolling...

There is a significant difference between the "old" and the new Revo drum, I think you are mistaken here as with Playlists.

That's not what my issue was, it was with creating 100's of registrations first. The PlayLists are the easy part. Pa4x has a Songbook which you can create an entry with a single button press, 2 clicks to add it the the PlayList.

I know what you mean. But the same is true of Genos. The first push to create a Registration, and save the second to the Playlist.

Does it matter..? 3 or 5 pushes on a button...
In most cases, we need to type a song name or whatever too...

I guess the 2 are top arrangers... i just like the pa4x more because of the sound editing, and i use the pa4x also as a keyboard/synth in a band.

Anybody remember that Songbook migration from the older PAx’s wasn’t exactly cut and paste?

Bottom line, even migration to the next model of the same brand can be a ton of work to set up your legacy setups. But once done, honestly, how many new entries a day do you make? Enough that two or three more button presses is going to ruin your day?

Please! There are more important things to base a buying decision on...

Me, the sounds and the styles are pretty much it. If those float your boat, it’s a fool who denies themselves those sounds and styles for the sake of a few more button presses a day! At the end of the day, the sounds and the styles are the ONLY thing that the audience hears.

Not trying to bash Korg but if I were to do all over again, I would have kept my Pa3x and not paid thousands more for the Pa4x. Fool me once Korg. I know they have to come up with new products to stay in business. But you can't tell me there are Thousands of dollar difference between the 3 and 4. I hear people talking about a 5 series. I won't fall for it. The Pa4 is the last Korg I will ever purchase. And I wish I had my 3 back and saved the money on this 4 with hardly and sound difference. Just a marketing ploy to sell more hardware. You won't get me again Korg.

Sorry the PA4X didn't work out well for you.

All these types of keyboards are expensive. For the first time ever, I bought my PA4X sight-unseen - never played or seen one.
Usually I wait for local stock and for the initial "bugs" to be ironed out - but I didn't this time.
Strangely, I had absolutely no regrets although I wouldn't take that risk again.
I found my PA3X to be the best arranger at that time and, apart from its ridiculous battery-backup, it was a solid stable keyboard.
I was worried about selling it and taking the "PA4X risk", but so glad I did - there are many differences which I found refreshing - the new OS design made me feel that, at last, the whole keyboard was much more logical to use.

It will have to be quite special now for a new model to excite me - there's really nothing that I would change and moreover there is not much that I would need added.

It will be interesting to see where Korg goes next with this - I feel that it might have to be quite a different and perhaps new approach, but of course, I have no idea.
