Will we ever see a new Korg Workstation?

i always save all the tracks done in my korg workstation both in SNG format and midi format and audio per track... just to be sure

To me, the stems are about as far down the rabbit hole of recording as I choose to go, because when you're using a workstation as a studio master, recording the MIDI becomes an exercise in futility. You'd need, not just the notes and CC changes, but a library of synths that will do the right thing. I'm no museum curator.

Not that hard to get a MIDI file, and at lest you have the original performance then as well in an editable format, even if you need to find a replacement synth.

Actually everyone is using a daw to record or for backtracking in live show, so I thing Korg should focus on usability of their next workstation : touchscreen but knobs for the most important parameters : envelopes, filters, lfo, ifx parameters and so...
Keep drum track, arpeggiator, karma and simplify sequencer, a sketch pad one is enough nowadays
But a secondary screen to handle ifx, mfx, tfx with vital parameters available on knobs

Handle sample like the clavia keyboard would be great and revisiting voice structure will help to make it really tweakable

Someone certainly believes in the viability of the desktop workstation market.

Speak for yourself.

I can use a DAW. I have done; quite a bit. But right now, as I look to my right, I have my stage setup: all hardware, not a DAW in sight. And a bit further to my right is my recording solution: Tascam Portastudio.

Things that do a complete job without a general purpose computer in sight are good. Suggesting that they simplify, rather than add features such as a pianoroll view, is a move in the wrong direction for anyone who doesn't trust Apple or Microsoft on stage.

yes, what i meant was, most of the people is not using the workstation sequencer anymore to prodice tracks/album or to play backtracing live.

Thats just not correct.

I know some folks on the Yamaha forum are highly assertive and somewhat derogatory when ever the topic of ' full feature hard ware SEQ ' comes up.

I have no problem with Yamaha decision to have a scratch pad for recording
on their Montage/MODX. And folks on a forum can say what they want/think.

Simply, there are some folks that like a full featured hard ware SEQ. We will never know the exact # for obvious reasons. But the preference does exist.

Hi Greg, I have to agree with you. for more than 30 years I have worked with both Yamaha and Korg workstation keyboards, I had the Yamaha W5, and the Korg 01W / fd, then I had S950 arrangement keyboards, and then Pa600, I currently have an S775, and I am saving some money to buy a Krome EX, because I want to have both technologies and be able to combine sounds and functions through MIDI. Having said that, I have always preferred to work on the keyboard (sequences, sounds, styles), I think everything is within reach, respect for those who use sequence programs and VSTS on their PC, but I definitely like the keyboard all in one. I would have liked to go for the Kronos SE, since it has all the tools for a complete musical production (multitrack audio recorder, open sampling system, karma function) but it is quite expensive in my country, it is only obtained by order from the USA ( There is no availability) payment only in cash, and it is a luxury that I can not afford at this time due to the low work flow. but the Krome EX, although it does not have the drums and whistles of Kronos SE, is a good keyboard for the price, and is the one I can access at the moment. Hi Hans, good to hear from you. We are on the same page.

I got serious on recording when I got a handle on my Kronos.
Recorded/composed 60 originals using it.

I am lucky to be in a huge marketplace, in the US. Which makes
a purchase a little easier.

I like the SE. I will buy it when my 8 yr old Kronos starts to show any age.
So far, its been 100% reliable for 8 years.
