Mean time, I'm moving in the exact opposite direction. Both my next gig and my next album should be hardware-only affairs, or very nearly (depending on final duplication technologies).Sharp wrote:+1

Sharp.
NAMM 2018 is near. What do you wish for? Your predictions?

Neko was just a collction of sofware apps... and hardware contllers... with an average quallity keybed and audio interface... the same could be do e with any masterkeyboard and a daw.Broadwave wrote:Time for a new take on Open Labs Neko - Maybe they were too ahead of their game, but it's something I'd kill for now.Bachus wrote:Actually i think its time for a real software workstation...
Running all the features we love and like from workstations inside a PC...
Bitwig, Live but most of all reason are perfect DAWs for expanding in such a way. Making it a perfect toll for going live on the road with a software based setup where everything integrates.
What we need, is the softwar version of the oldfashioned workstation like the Kronos... complete with the content.
I think the only real attempt was the lionstracks... but they failed in delivering..
And then there is offcourse Wersi, but their high end software is buried under a decades old organ interface..
Best hope is NI bringing out a 76 and 88 key version with Full Maschine and Jam features onboard... and some things from Kronos and Montage...
Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

I would like to get away from the polyphony 128 and 256. I mean ram and memory is cheap why are we so restricted to these below standards?.Koekepan wrote:Would it be mean of me to express a wish that Kurzweil produce a workstation cool enough to scare KORG into raising their game?
I mean, we've seen Yamaha's best shot and it's not up to the task. Who else would it be? Kawai's out of the running. Roland too. KORG's king of the hill right now.

Have you seen the FA ?

Personally, I doubt that they will come out with a new workstation. But whatever device is going to replace the Kronos in the future will be mind boggling, for sure (considering all the computational power at hand nowadays).
The Fa is good but not great, somewhat of a tradeoff between Integra 7 (or Jupiter 80 if you will) and the older Fantoms.Have you seen the FA ?

If you noticed, Roland did a nice job for the cost of the FA. I am not a Roland fan boy or even close. Yes, I know Roland has leveraged their ' synth lineage' . But Korg does that too many ways.
In terms of DAW integration which is very important, the FA is better than Kronos. I think most of us know about Roland sounds. True, the FA does not have multiple engines.
$1300 for a FA. $3000 for a 6 yr old Kronos. Thats significant.
I like both , of course.
As I said, the FA is good.Roland did a nice job for the cost of the FA
We don't need to argue here. The so called "computer integration" of the Kronos is something Korg should consider improving next time. Remember? - "Transmit audio and midi over a single cable." I still wonder what that's supposed to mean (irony off). No seriously, it certainly felt like a huge letdown for many to learn that it's not as great as it sounds. In terms of DAW integration which is very important, the FA is better than Kronos.
You could still opt for a used Kronos for half of the price (if not less).$3000 for a 6 yr old Kronos.

Lots of variation on used, and by country, venue, etc, etc.marc1 wrote:[letdown for many to learn that it's not as great as it sounds.

I am amazed ( ?) or impressed that Korg can sell the Kronos for $3k (approx)
Behringer seems to move ahead full steam with several planned analog releases according to the productpage.
All gone now. Maybe someone got the month wrong as NAMM is next month thus why the pages were removed? Or maybe it's hardcore marketing and they are doing controlled leakage in preparation for next month? Perhaps they, like DSI and a few others are not doing NAMM this time around and so they don't have to hide their new products under sheets for fear of nobody visiting their stand at the show if they show everyone what they have in store now? Maybe it's all actually trolling, these products don't exist and Uri is doing for the lulz?Jan1 wrote:Behringer seems to move ahead full steam with several planned analog releases according to the productpage.
Stuff I'm using: Umm right now, well there's a Volca Drum, a Micro Freak, an ADX-1, a Pulse, a Blofeld, a UNO Drum, KeyStep/Beatstep Pro/Keystep Pro (one of each), a Circuit, a LiveTrak L-12 and this nonsense: The Brief-case as it was about a bit over a year ago (the the complete ridiculous GAS monster collection here)and here
I reckon Behringer is teasing to keep people interested.
I sincerely hope that they do all these cool things, for good prices, at decent quality, because that makes all the other manufacturers work harder.
I have no bias against Behringer. Their stuff all works great, or when it didn't it was replaced under warranty. However, teases don't make me hold off on purchases. If I need something, I actually need it soon, and if I don't need it then I'm not buying it. I don't expect that any of the above will materialise in the next two years, so if I wanted something ARP-like, I'd start by looking at KORG. If I want an 808 or 909, Roland's Boutique line has it (in fact, I bought a TR-09).

Dear Friends,
Many of you are already well aware, but it was brought to our attention that early this morning a rather unfortunate error occurred on the Behringer product page. This error mistakenly posted information for a number of different product design concepts from our product management repository which is contained and part of an automated backend system for our websites. The cause of the error was due to a website glitch and was completely unintentional. The moment we realized the error, we removed the content.
As we are owning the mistake, we also feel it’s necessary to inform the public about this error as a sign of good faith. It was not our intention to mislead customers in any way nor use this as a marketing tool. To be perfectly transparent, the leaked information does not imply any availability at this time or even definitive evidence that we intend to officially develop or deliver these products in the future. At this stage, the leaked products are merely concepts and nothing more.
To be honest we are embarrassed by this glitch and sincerely apologize to you who have been so supportive of our efforts over the years. We greatly appreciate your support and understanding of the situation.
