My meaning of the question was to load Korg PA4X styles Direct from the USB stick straight into the keyboard without loading styles into User or Favourites slots/ ports.

Hi Ronnie,
to each his own the way they like to have their styles organised.
Personally I like using the favourites user slots. I organise the styles I use into favourites slots including copying factory styles into them. There's so many styles in the keyboard I probably will never use, for me its handy having the ones I do use, organised to suit me.

The factory styles are there as a base for when I need to find a style. I can then tweak if I want to, then I save as a favourite.
The styles I have for direct play on USB are my old style base which I have collected from older keyboards and stuff I have converted/ created over the years.
These I also use as a base if looking for a style for a song, which I then also load into a favourite slot if I find a suitable one.

Doing it this way , works for me. I'm only a home player/ hobbyist.

Thanks Rikki...I am still no wiser on how to use the usb for styles without loading them into the user or favourite ports
The manual I find hard to follow...I am more hands on to do things....

Hi Ronnie, unless someone fills you in on "how to "in the meantime, I'll try and explain it to you tomorrow morning. Unfortunately I've just gone to bed.

Thanks again...I found it hard to try load usb styles direct to play without using a user or favourite bank.
I also don't know how to create a .SET folder to put what styles I want use direct from usb.
How do I make a .SET folder please,I did not see it on any drop box to show me.
Rikki you mentioned the offer of styles,are these the same as Korg site styles ...Perhaps you could PM me please on what styles you mentioned please
Also the other day I was editing a style and MAXX editing...The exit button would not allow me to return to style play it just Froze...I had to reboot keyboard..It happened a few times before but now I mention it because elsewhere on forum complaints are about latest OS installed...My keyboard came from A C Hamilton UK with OS 1.2.4 loaded.

shadowhankron as you realise you are not on your own with these freezing issue, keep a note of these events and if this continues drop korg a line and let them know (although you say this happened on numerous occasions so may be it's time they did here from you)+ keep your dealer informed also, this is very important that korg are informed off these on going issue, so in the mean time the numbers continue to grow .....

You create a .SET folder on the USB by creating an eight character name with .SET as it's extension. Ex. "xxxxxxxx.SET". Then you pick it as the direct folder using the drop down screen in media mode.

Old hits60.SET. Or Seventies.SET
Is this what you meant,hopefully

It would be useless for me to tell the store who supplied the keyboard as they are in UK ,. I am in Ireland...But if I had a contact for Korg I would write to them.
Perhaps the older OS is a safer system to use

I think it wants to be the 8.3 DOS format. I don't think you can have spaces. You can try it with more than 8 characters but I think it wants only 8. Try it and see. I'm not at my keyboard so I can't try it.

By the way you can have many .SET folders on the USB, but you can only have one at a time as your direct folder.

http://www.korg.com/uk/support/contact/ depending with which part of Ireland you are in I would still think your dealer still has a obligation to assist you and perhaps a phone call would confirm this? Above is the korg UK contract details I would certainly still inform korg of your freezing episode's as they need to evaluate how many are having these problems and why ...hope this helps.
