I switched everything on the control surface and it did not effect the panning, and no the timing is not right on these, there are variations, i want a linear gated arp like on the triton, is there a file i can download for this?
Dude, considering you seem to find these things really important, you could've used the time watching the tutorials qrobinez linked to, instead of wasting time complaining here on the forum. Who knows, you might actually learn to do it for yourself

Horse to water and all that...
To the OP - seriously the QR vids are great; I've used Karma for the last couple of years and I learned from his 'beginner' vids LOL
Have you even opened the Karma Tab yet? It's not just about the physical controllers. There's also the handy 'Help' button you have when on a tab to 'help' you.
And if Karma truly is too much for your to cope with, then get a midi cable from the Out of your Virus and put it into the In on the Kronos. Put them on the same midi channel and then the Virus will arp whatever sound you have current on the Kronos.
I should not have to slave the kronos to anything to get a standard arp out of this super expensive synth, this is plain idiotic.
NONE of the arps that it comes with sounds the way I want not matter what I edit on it, the timing has variations or note legnth variations. Its not linear like a regular arp on these patterns and no, i know how to mess with them, i watched the stupid videos and read the manual.
You just want a regular note up arp right? I haven't seen any of the tutorials and had that set up within 5 minutes, where the hell are you looking?
Select from the ARP/Simple category number 3, note up. Go the the Karma midi filter page and make sure in the transmit table ONLY the GE notes box is checked. Go to the GE RTP page and make sure "note series: interval" is set to zero for all three values. Now you have a regular arp up. If you go back to the Play page the Karma RT control tab will let you adjust note length and such.
the problem is Hexfix only wants to go to the corner store, and his space shuttle (Kronos) is just too much! Maybe as suggested he should get a Tricycle (Triton) and curse on down to the store, or just walk.
additionally, the space shuttle manual is well over a 1000 pages, and the tricycle is under a 100 pages.
Hexfix,
Sound like you got more than you bargained for. Your choice is simple, learn the Kronos & Karma, or use something else. Don't be the id10t by complaining and don't insult others by whinning about the videos that they put out for us, FREE of charge.
And my last comment, "it aint that simple". So relax and your only "f***ed" if you say you are. Good luck.
Cpilot wrote:I thought of getting the Karma Editor, but Stephen Kay seems to want my life history for me to order it. When I bought the Kronos, I just gave them the money and left the store. Same when I buy software at the same location. They didn't want all this info. So why does SK need to know this? He can keep his editor and I'll keep the money.
What advanced amount of information are you referring to? The name and address and stuff that tries to ensure that you are not a hacker with a fake CC ripping me off? Or what exactly, I'm interested to know.
What strikes me: u buy a Kronos for a simple arp?.........
2nd' there are great software ,simple, midi arps in almost every modern daw.
If u wanna be the next Tiesto..u really didnt need to. Buy this advanced machine
My 2 cents, but do not blame karma for ur lack of basic synth knownledge

I found it, i found the settings that change it to the way I like them.
It took forever to do that and turn off the panning because it is not set up intuitively at all. Karma is not user friendly at all. I figured it out once i went to the karma labs forums.
You were told how to do that almost immediately on here as well.
But I'm glad you got it setup the way you like it. You're right; Karma isn't user-friendly. Or at least, it has a steep learning curve. The system itself is set up pretty logically once you get into it. But regardless, once you've done one or two like this you won't even have notice anymore.
That's interesting. I myself DO find the Kronos to be very intuitively designed. Different strokes I guess. Yamaha stuff always baffles me and I even managed to program my old DX-7.
Hefix. Is there anyway you can put up a soundbite of what you are trying to achieve? An example from one of your other synthes might help here.

It is very flexible and thus the interface is very technical. I wouldn't say it wasn't user friendly, however it does depend on the technical level of the user.
For example, they could have a checkbox called 'turn off panning', but then that assumes that every GE is going to have an option for panning. Instead there is an option for controlling a CC, which could be panning but could be something else entirely. I guess you'd have to know that it was controlling panning with a CC.
But the end result is a much more flexible and powerful system.
