Today went and got the "Easy Off" - after more than 1 hour nothing happened - Imean at all no harm just some stains - see the pictures of the whole procedure here:

But a little bit frustrated as I really would like to change the plate into silver.

hmmm...my two best guesses are that 1.) the Fume Free ovencleaner is somehow different, or 2.) the Emx has a dif finish then the ESX (which dos'nt seem likely.
Check this link: he recommends Yellow Can EZ-off
maybe you can exchange it at store?

Anybody some idea where to order nicer knobs + slider for the EMX1 ...?
After I have taken them off yesterday I found the original ones are really cheap............

I wonder if you use some metal dye on it after taking the red off if the paint would also resist the dye like it does taking it off.. that would be cool.

he probably just took the knobs out or simply unscrewed the top (after taking the knobs out) or used a tiny tiny tiny brush and a mini scraper

ha ha no scraper. I would never have the patience to do that
I do apologize. I will post the pics of the cleaner TONIGHT I promise. I took the picture and completely forgot to post
It's some orange can of something, again something I never saw at a regular grocery store.

I don't really want to change my ESX, but my oven hasn't had a good cleaning in 5 years...can you pass by? J/k couldn't resist
I think it looks great in silver by the way.

Thanks for the oven cleaner pic... I used some heavy duty easy-off on my ESX and had to use several applications to get all the red off, and then it looked really bad and coroded..
I was kind of worried i had ruined it, but then i used a green scrubbie with some soap and water(scrubbing only left to right) and was able to get it looking really spiffy. Then the problem was that the green scrubbie had started to go through the white print.
BUT THEN i used some acetone(nail polish remover ) on the rest of the remaining white lettering and i ended up with a beautiful brushed aluminum face plate with red anodized print ! The acetone cuts through the white , but does not mess up the anodized, so it all worked out perfect! It took more time than i wanted though....Now i just have to make some music !
I will try to post pics of mine too.

I still want to do this but I'd like to see a couple more success stories before I do it to my ESX
