Hi Lee,
I'm going from memory because my Pa2x still has not arrived.
If you change program then that's too drastic due to complete EFX changes, and stuff is cut off. But if you select an upper 2 or upper 3 track and then just change the sound, I don't think it cuts off.
If you select the upper 1 track and change the sound it shouldn't cut off unless you have enabled the option for the sound to alter the EFX (which I have disabled in Global somewhere).
So, my conclusion from past playing was that notes only "cut off" if I did something to change the EFX.
Regards,
Rob

Rob is right, and i understand what Lee wants, that is possible only the way
Ketron has done it, on any Ketron synth is smooth, now Fantom G has that
feature and the XS...Korg forgot...as i know of.

My Kurzweil K2600X worked fine that way too. Until you released all keys the sound program did not change. (I think it was by MIDI zone too, but can't remember) Great feature.
Rob, I will check out the changes being made and see if they change FX. Als, I will check out the globa setting for sound to change FX
Thanks,
Lee

Lee,
I'm not sure from your reply if you have understood the following issue:
First, just try soloing the Upper 2 track and change the sound assigned to that. I do not think there will be any problem.
The Upper 1 track is a special track and if you change the sound it is possible that the sound EFX will override the program EFX unless you set the global option to prevent it.
Please forgive me if you are already well aware of this.
Regards,
Rob

Rob,
Thanks for the clarification...No I did not know the upper 1 was different...but i see now what it does.
I did some further testing and it looks like the sounds do not change 'as I want'...they do not change until all notes are off, but I see what changes, it is the FX. AND VOLUME.
So, If I lock the upper 1 FX in global tha keeps the FX the same and the sound FX does not change.
That is of help...BUT I see if I want the sound to stay the 'same' until I lift all notes on RH...I have to make a custom style or performace to set the VOLUME the same. Or the volume 'jmps'. This is for each one...not so good.
I would like a global option to say' Don't change STS until all notes off'
That way you could select the STS, then when you lift all notes and start playing again it would be the new STS.
That is what we need to really make it shine!
Probably pretty easy for Korg to do.

Hi Lee,
Is this something like your suggestion ? ...
1. A new software function called "link upper program changes to all notes off" should be implemented and enabled via a global setting.
2. If enabled, then when you press a different program change button for the upper tracks, then the light under that button starts to flash to tell you a program change is pending. (just like style var changes).
3. When all notes are off on the upper tracks track (and after a slight additional delay to allow the release portion of the notes to decay to an inaudible level), the program change would automatically happen and the indicator light would go full on.
If I have understood you correctly, then this seems to me to be the way to go with any keyboard or workstation and I hope that Korg would be willing to consider this for future OS releases.
Best regards,
Rob

My Wishlist! Back to something not so exciting as sampling and the like, but actually playing the keyboard. There is a distinct and glaring lack of 6/8 Marches on the pa2x. So...Where are they? Are there any good Marches for Download anywhere for the pa Range?

Rob,
The way that it works on the Fantom G and the Motif XS is that the sound/program DO change for all notes except the held ones. So that the 1st sound/program is sustaining while the 2nd sound/program can also be played.

Rob,
Very good sir...yes, exactly right..
I think a lot of players would like that!
Also, Andy, That's sounds exciting too.
Then you could hold some notes and come in with a few more with the new sound....
But, Don't know if that is possible on PA...I would be happy with Rob's analogy, if we can't have it like Fantom and XS!

As a know that works same on Pa, but the problem is volume and fx change. If my two sounds i change have same volume and effects then while holding notes when i change sts or performance the transit is unnoticeable, old sound is sustained as long as i keep the notes and new sound starts when i start playing again. But as i say again problem is volume levels, effect cuts and whole other settings included in performance.

Korg Request....respectfully:
KORG, we need the memory function to also work on MIDI notes received via MIDI to 'lower', so when we have an external MIDI keyboard hooked up..we can still use memory function. (Note: For many reasons we DO NOT want to use the global channel for this)
Thanks,
Lee
