Radias joins OASYS

Synthia you keep being creative! Enjoy the music, your kids, etc... You touch others for good with your music. Who can criticize that? If you weren't so far away, I would be calling like a llike a young kid say "Can I come over to play"?

Anna do you sometimes pull out a synth you haven't play in a while and think "Wow, I forgot how great this one sounds"? I think you could really have a blast in that room! Congrats on the new baby! She (or He) fits nicely near the Oasys and the XS.

I'm glad that you like my musical endeavours.My music keeps me going.In these days and age of uncertainty and troubled times music is a great comfort.
I too love Kraftwerk (of course they are German like me).
My favourite keys at the moment are the Radias,Motif XS and the V-Synth.I just loaded the Version 1 sounds back into my V,it has the most strangest patches,which I like.But the Radias is addictive,can't stop playing it

I feel different every day so one day I may play the old DX7 with the Juno-106 for the old 80s nostalgia.

I wished indeed that some of you lived closer,I would love to meet you guys in person and I would like to invite you into my studio for a jam.

I recently pulled out my trusted old D-50 and yes,I felt like you said,this synth is still great and fits into a modern mix.

Even though others have chimed in many times here about your statement, I'd like to offer my own spin on it.

When I started getting back into music and hung out at local music store learning as much as I could from a guy working there (he became a good friend) about the "new" stuff (meaning synths). He walked the walk as both a musician and producer, etc. I remember him telling me when I was mulling over the purchase of a new Korg T1 (because my Grand Piano was loosing pitch due to poor pinblock material), that even though the T1 was incredible, one synth could not do it all. At the time, having been a guitarist, bass player, drummer, piano kind of guy, (meaning one at a time) I thought not unlike you.

16 Synths later (many rack mount modules in that) it occurred to me looking back, that he was indeed correct. Of course the technolgy was older (minimum polyphony, midi latency, small memory,ect,etc, etc) so some of our "work flow" was different then. So was 16 synths too many? Not to me, because the sum of them all could produce most any sound set simultaneously on play back, but I could still build tunes one instrument at a time.

My experience once getting the O, is that I had to shift more time to it (as you pointed out) because it is so deep, however, even the O has polyphony limits, and does not have all the sounds onboard that the others can bring to a work. Layering can be a many splendored thing.

I still have all the gear and enjoy being able to bring the "best" sounds in each of those out to play, when the muse dictates!

I might just buy a radias now too!

Synthia, I enjoyed "V Meets R", but "World of Cunfusion" kicks ass! I seriously like that. A couple of chord progressions reminded of VNV Nation's work on BURNING EMPIRES, which is just a killer album. It used to sell for over $100 on Ebay, but now it's downloadable.

BTW, it's great to be a tortured artist, isn't it!? I went through my share of that in the 80's and 90's. Now that I have 3 kids torturing me, I don't do it to myself, anymore.

Regarding the issue of number of synths, while I feel that the OASYS can be a complete solution, why set myself up for musical emptiness, if it ever breaks down? Gotta have backup, baby! Plus, there's something really F'ing cool about setting up Multi-record and playing a synthony on 3 different keyboards.

Dammit, you need at least 2 keyboards to do the bass riff on "Enjoy the Silence"!

I'm glad you like my new tunes.The Radias really inspires me to do different stuff.
Must be so nice for you to have 3 young kids.I really miss that.Mine are grown up now and it feels kind of empty now.Kids are so nice when they are young and innocent.They are great company,enjoy them whilst you can.Believe me,they grow up way too quick.

Talking about synths.Imagine just having one,I would miss my "Daisy chaining.
