I never though of a synth that it should look sexy or pretty, but then I feel the same about cars and other tools ;)

Now I really like the modularity of the M3, I already removed one of the top cover, moved the module a little. Even with the 73 key you could have 2 M3 side by side, it wouldn't be to difficult to make a custom plate on one of the sides to let one of the module "hanging" a little outside. I'm actually a bit surprised it wasn't done from the beginning.

The M3 editor is far from being perfect, but at least you can use it in any host.

Just for fun at home......that's funny.

I have found that the M3 is an excellent keyboard for live use. There are endless sounds, rhythms, and drum tracks to choose from. Our band has been amazed with what the M3 can do, especially if we don't have a drummer around.

Just for fun......everywhere!

M3 is fun to play just for fun at home with KARMA.
You are sadly mistaken or you really don't know how to use KARMA in live performance.

KARMA was made for live performance!

It's a great addition to our band, but also....with KARMA, I've been able to start preparing for solo keyboard gigs at local coffee houses.

korg m3 blows all other synths out of the water as far as sound clarity and depth, especially the fantom-g lol...its a joke of a synth

to the OP that tested these machines

Your review kicked some major butt. I'm in the 'time to upgrade from that crappy old synth' stage too. And NO, you aren't the only one that wants just one machine (surely if I was rich, endorsed, or a combination of the two...but I'm NOT, so one machine for me...)

Anyways, I think I'll go with the M3 as well, as I was sold on the KARMA engine and touch screen (the pitch bend/mod thing looks awsome too!!!)

I felt that the Fantom G series was QUITE lacking as well.

Anywho, major props on the reviews.

And BTW, you said that they were next to an OASYS... How could you pull your fingers off of it long enough to even TRY OUT the others... I know the only time I saw one at a music store (in NY) I stayed at it for HOURS just messing around (OK, failing at pretending I was Jordan Rudess.... 8) )

My opinion, yamaha XS is yamaha top synthesizer so thay will put all what yamaha have to it, but korg m3 is not top kog synthesizer so something what thay could add to it, korg will keep it on oassys, so i think it's the worst korg mistake, becouse it thims that yamaha xs the way better then m3,
but it's my opinion

With all do respect! I like the Motif XS8 and I will buy one in the future
Then you might want to take a look in the buy/sell section for the XS7.

Well eibbor didi you get anything yet?

I would just kick in another suggestion here. It doesn't seem like you require a lot of "workstation" features. Like sequencer or arpegiator. If your focus are on pure sound quality and huge synth leads - why not check out the K2661???

They have a small screen compared to Y, R and K but it's not a coinsidence that the Ks are used by guys like Jordan Rudess fron DT and Pink floyd... It just sound amazing.

It is a great sounding synth, but that small screen and the menu diving gets annoying after awhile......believe me!

The biggest disappointment for me was: when I bought the K2661, I was told there were "thousands of patches available online for it." Well, after many searches and posts asking "where are those sounds?" I've come up a bit empty.....a few dozen sounds and many dead links.

On this forum, we have BANKS of patches (and even combis!) for the Triton and M3 (and others), but Kurzweil programmers may post a handful of patches online, but NEVER a full bank! And forget about any setups (similar to combis).

curently i'm saving all my songs to audio mixdown that have triton extreme in them.
and looking to buy Motif xs.

If there would have been extreme rack, i'd buy that also, to go with motif xs and tr-rack.

but i guess i'll just have to let go of triton extreme, maybe i'll sample some sounds from it.

it's very disapointing that such a popular music instrument company: KORG, at the time of software and computers
didn't even make a vsti editor for triton extreme.
that's the main reason I'm gonna sell my triton extreme.

Yes I do agree. I've had a K2000 and a K2500x (w/ KDFX), and the biggest recource for sounds is Kurzweils own ftp, where they actually allow users to upload sounds. The good thing is that you can use the K2x sounds on all boards,s o I have used my k2000 sounds on the K2500x with great sucess adding nice effects with the KDFX. But I still have to say that they sound great - and if that's what you're after then you have to do with the bumpy interface 8)

I use my Triton Extreme now and I don't miss the interface on my K synth - sound quality can be discussed but I have managed to get good enough results using the TEX :) I love the touch screen - but uses a PC based programming tool called soundtower - so I rearly use the screen. On stage I only press "next" to select my setups. The point is, if you use the K-board live maybee a good PC editor can do you better than any colour touchscrren. And the K is back in the race
