I'm with you on this one. As much as I understood the humor, and even knowing that the DX7 isn't all that rare, it was still painful to see a completely usable old synth in excellent condition ruined for a joke, especially when there are musicians out there who can't afford a keyboard, would appreciate the gift, and would love it and play it for years.

What a waste.

BobTheDog,

They are more than numpties...they are totally retarded brainless idiots with more money than sense.
In fact, I'd go as far as to say they need to seek medical help, ASAP!!

It beggars belief how much these pieces of carp sell for. Yes, CARP! Very fishy!
What a joke - but I wished I'd have had customers as thick and stupid as some of these. I'd be a millionaire now.

I used to build and customise guitar's for a living, as well as playing them and would spend countless hours perfecting every tiny detail to make a perfect instrument.
Looking at some of these pieces of total junk, I'd have been as well to have visited the local dump, searching out bits of rotten plywood to produce junk guitars.

One thing I noted:- This so called 'relic' is nothing like the real thing.
For a start, a '61 Strat never had locking machines. they had 'Kluson Deluxe's' fitted. So it's definitely not an authentic nasty copy of a '61 Strat.
How can anyone putting together a pile of carp, in the year 2015, pass it off as a 'Custom '61 Strat?

But then - what do I know?? I only started building Guitars in 1962.

That's your problem: You started a year late!

I guess there really is a sucker born every minute. If I had that much "bread" to spend on a vintage (or any) guitar, I'd put the money into getting the best sounding and playing instrument I could afford. Who gives a da#n about weathering?

Weathering is what happens to your new guitar after you've played a thousand gigs with it. :D THEN it's authentic.

I never got this Relic thing either. Mind you, if I was Ford, I'd put on the market "Right to Spec" brand new 1969 Boss 302's! They might not be as good as new Mustangs, but I bet they'd sell a lot of them.

Relic guitars though, well, I just don't know. They're not cheap either. Just another point of confusion. I can just see 30 years from now, somebody will be able to buy a 1998 Mexican Strat relic! Ole!
If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
Gear: Kronos 73, Wavestation EX, Polysix, King Korg, Monotron and Monotron Duo, Minikorg, Moog Grandmother, my very old MiniKorg, 4 acoustic and 9 electric guitars, 1 Ibanez 5 string bass, a Steel guitar, a bunch of microphones, 2 pairs of studio monitors and other very cool toys, 1 wife and 4 cats and a lava lamp!

This has to be the most idiotic video i've ever seen... :x
Trashing that beautifully mint DX7  That guy should be shot

I'm a guitar player as much as keyboard player, and i can understand (light) relicing on guitars to a point. My main strat is a CS relic. And that it's a guitarist thing... some other musicians don't understand...
But relicing a keyboard??? I like mine mint and shiny. Hell when i get a used keyboard i even touch up scratches on the paint with black marker, and this guy goes at it with sandpaper and keys... No words... :-#
