Latency Problem - Reason 5 / Korg PA1x-Pro

UPDATE!
I have managed to get rid of the latency problem without purchasing another device or component by:
- Disabled / turned off all unnecessary programs running on my laptop.
- Change the performance setting to 'performance' rather than 'let windows chose' or 'visual'.
- Updated audio driver and ASIO driver.
It now works perfectly, there is no sign of any latency or crackling sounds.
My question now is; would upgrading the sound card or buying the 2i4 interface unit increase the sound quality, ie would the sampled piano sound sound the same regardless of the sound card /interface, or is it dependant on the amp and speakers I have?
