Chris using Sampler is not special talent, in fact is so easy that anyone can use it without much knowledge.
There are many free sets for pa2x on the web, just try some and find good drum kit, import it in your set and start exploring, you don't need to sample your own drums and instruments, leave that to the tone Engineers, your job is to use it.
Pa3x has so much to offer, but only to people who wants to explore and make best use for it, if you are not this sort of a person then stick with pa1x, because with original sounds and styles you want see huge difference between the two.

Totally agree with Admars post, I to was in the same position with my Pa1xPro & having had the Pa3 76 note version for the last two months i can tell you it was a great move. Yes the Pa1xpro is still an outstanding instrument but the pa3 is another step up sound wise & as a giiging musician this means a great deal I can tell ya.
Go for it you wont be dissapointed & don't take to much notice of all the negative threads regarding the Pa3 as it's mainly down to user errors & not fully understanding the Korg way. My Pa3 has been faultless from day one.
