i' am glad too! ;-)))

btw, i know it's really frustrating having keyboard freezing every minute, but since it seems a problem that can be repaired easily, i would go for repairing rather than buy a different new synth

yeah.....

But, your keyboard was in warranty... Mine isn't... that is the thing worrying me.....

I don't want the cost to be too high ....

Hey Guys,

I contacted the distributer... He was not sure about the motherboard cost though. In the mean time i tried reinstalling the OS.

Strangely, now i'm not facing any freeze issues.... I suspect the OS was corrupted by some virus. Not sure though.

Now need to test till when the system will be stable..

I would be interested to know if anyone has experienced such behavior

gdot, your M50 now do not freeze any more? the OS re-installing has been enough to fix the problem?

Hey Kimu,

Yes. I have been using it continuously for hours together. Not even once the board behaved unexpectedly.

Even the menu navigation has become smoother.... Best part, I too had issues with the heaphones unbalanced output. Even that got resolved.

I seriously think, the OS was currupted.

I recommend users facing freezing issues to try reinstalling the OS. Its just 1min task.

We got our M50-61 back, yesterday. We haven't yet had time to try it, but I plan on hooking it all up, tonight.

The tech said he could not get the freezing issue to occur, so he replaced the system board. Hopefully, that solved the problem. I'll post back in the future with our findings.

I wanted to report that we have had no lockup problems since the repairman replaced the system board.

(knock on wood)

The main circuit board was replaced. Previously, we had the caps replaced, but the problem remained. The system board was the only thing left to replace.

My nephew recently purchased a used M50 recently at a pawn shop but it kept freezing up on him. Not sure what the serial number was, however he returned it as he had a full 30 day warranty.

Another on bites the dust

Well mine just went out as well. I posted this in the other M50 freezing thread as well, but i figure the more info people have the better

Bought in 2011 11,8XX serial number

Turn it on: works for 30 seconds to 3 minutes just fine.
Then all buttons wont work.
Then the keys wont work.
Then the touchscreen wont work.

They all go out one by one.

Re-start it and they work for a minute or two tops.

Tried hard reset.
Tried restoring to factory settings.
Tried re-updating the OS to the newest version (which was already installed)

Its hosed.

I contacted Korg customer service, and they said, no warranty after 4 years so I'm screwed, they will not stand behind their $1000 product.

I would definitely think twice if you rely on the Korg M50 for gigs to make money. Not reliable at all.

I will take it in to the Korg licensed repair shop locally, and check back in here with the results.

Maybe swapping those faulty capacitors will fix it.

Another one bites the dust, a late model one too.
