Hi Pete,

It's always good to pop here on the forums. I have been reading the posts but haven't been posting much.

Despite Korg's silence or should i say inactivity in the past 2 years since OS 2.01, The PA2X still towers over the rest. Nevertheless, i would hate to think this instrument be forgotten by Korg for the sake of a new product (which is what normally happens). If that does happen, then it will be a huge dissapoinment knowing that we missed out on alot of potential OS upgrades which we have come to know as an integral part of Korg's dealings with it's customers.

If i remember correctly, one of the reasons why the PA1X pro was no longer supported, was that it had exceeded it's max capacity and was longer capable of handling anything new. OTOH, the PA2X has 5 times the capacity of it's predecessor and barely 20% of it is filled.

I just hope Korg Italy is working on a new OS, reather than a new keyboard.

um.... sorta would be nice but there would be no money in it for them - might not be a good business proposition. I don't think Korg would break its tradition in free upgrades.

I am far from ready for a new PA (or should I say: my wife is far from ready for another keyboard in the house - seriously, she is always supportive - just joking).

It is sad to admit that if a new bright and shiny PA?XPro was sitting there waiting for me to buy it, I would be sorely tempted. But I don't want to sound like a Tyros owner and just buy it because it is there - traditionally, Korg have produced some great upgrades to their gear - I can't imagine that the next PA will be an exception to that.

I very much doubt that we will see a new or upgraded OS for the PA2Xpro - but I could be wrong!!!

Cheers

My point is that once a new product is released the older model will no longer be subject for OS upgrades. This could be where the PA2X is heading, the only difference between this keyboard and earlier models is that the previous models were supported right till the release of the newer model, the same can't be said of the PA2X if a new model is released.

The Pa800 should of been what the PA800EX is now with 256 megs ram more drums kits and individual effects for every sound not in performance mode, I am very dissaponted on the support for updates.

Rememberthere is also hardware problems on the PA2XPRO (some)...LED's.
I just last weekend visited the Sweetwater Sound showroom. They have had a PA2XPRO there for a while now. LOTS of the LED's are partially on, some real bright some very dim even when on...
Wander what's up with that?
ALSO, if they need additional buttons, knobs, sliders etc they may need a new HW instead of a upgrade.

I think you will see a new PAsomething.... soon.

Depending on what it is, and cost...I may stay with my PA2XPRO..or may even go Yamaha T4.

Hi Lee

If you do any performing, please be very careful of the T4 - it is not suited for performances IMHO - I had a T3 for a while and did a lot of experimenting with it - made me realise how advanced and "professional" the PA2X is particularly the OS design. T4 totally sucks when it comes to performing or doing anything "live".

Stay with PA2X for now... there's nothing else out there right now..

Cheers

Pete,
Thanks for the information and words of wisdom.
I guess I know that..just frustrated on no updates from Korg.
And I always wander about the LED's. Mine are fine...but the PA2 in the Sweewater Sound showroom has multiple LED issues. It is on almost all the time, but rarely played much.

I played the T4 a week ago, it sounds great, butI know it's OS is not PRO and only 61 just OK kets as well. I do not gig out, only play at home.

Thanks,
Lee

Hi Lee

If your LEDs are fine by now I don't think you have much to worry about. Korg have fixed up most LED problems and actually, as Korg Italy said in an earlier post, only a few keyboards are expected to have this problem. If you look back, there aren't many PA2Xpros with the LED problem. It just seems like a lot from the number of posts about it.

I was unlucky but all seems fine since my 2 PC boards were replaced.

Enjoy your PA2Xpro, save up for your PA3Xpro, PA4XPro and ......

Cheers

I'm sorry I have to say we TOTALLY FORGOT IT! :-(
The design of the new model (however it could be called) is too advanced to be changed. Maybe we could include a package of toasted cofee with it? :-)

I cannot say what was the problem with the Pa2X at Sweetwater, but the LED problem only affected a very limited amount of instrument, produced for a very limited time (we received a bad bunch of them). If yours has not yet shown any fault, then it is just fine.

No...are we from yesterday? Can we really be that naive?
You really think they gona come up and say VOILA!?
Dont get me wrong, i am not trying to be an a$$ but i've been involved in
this bussines for long time and i know how things work...none of them ever
would do such a thing...whats the point of releasing that product at all then?
A lot of things in here lately dont even make sense...yes i know we have the
right to ask but IF YOU CAN DO SOMETHING DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE TO DO IT.

Paolo,
Thanks for the clarification on LED's.

ALSO, I called Korg USA and told them the rep that covers Sweetwater needs to get them to fix the PA2XPRO at the retail demo store...it is bad marketing for Korg!

Also, Please, Please, I would like some great Italian coffee with my new PA3XPRO.... (Or do you guys there get yours from Brazil too??)
:-)

And here's hoping you got my list (long time ago) of the sounds with issues and were able to fix them,, All I believe were a result of samples that were not so great.
Thanks,
Lee
