Yes, it will void the warranty. But, theoretically, nothing is changed software/hardware wise. So, you can always put the original SD Card back.

Nope, once a warranty is voided, it's voided permanently. If Korg can prove in any way that you've opened up the instrument (not sure about the M3 but on other electronic devices, it's often done with a sticker covering one of the openings, so you can't open it without removing or breaking the sticker), then you've voided the warranty and you're on your own.

They can't unless you damage the screws. AFAIK there is no sticker or sth similar.
However this is not to be meant as an encouragement to open your instrument.

Great plan! Thanks for the excellent tip...

BTW, what is the 4th sound that loads? I have the latest version update and 256 exp card and only three load up when powering the unit on??

Thanks again!

it's a smaller size piano sample file... I myself am trying to figure out why they did two different pianos in an expansion....?...

Because in the Xpanded update, they tweaked some of the internal RAM, including the main piano preset. Then some long-time users complained that the new piano wasn't as good as the old piano (which was lost with the new PCM data), so they put the old one back as a fourth expansion.

is there a way to know automatically which presets access the new Piano samples vs the old?

and if we could find out this information, we could easily go in and tweak those all those presets so that none of them will access the old piano samples.... and that all the presets will access the NEWER (128 MB) piano samples... that way we don't have to load the old samples (V1 piano)... that would free up about 57 MB of sample RAM space....

FYI...

A 512 MB SD card also works fine for storing the EXPCM.KEP files internally. I had one lying around and tried it.
