Aftertouch PA2XPro - please don't be too angry with me..

Hi Pete.
As far as I know the Keybeds are made by Fatar and it's also likely that they have the 2 Pot design.
One pot controls the white keys sensitivity, and the other controls the black. So technically all you need to do is adjust the correct pot.
For example, check out the middle photo in post 19 here
http://www.karma-lab.com/forum/showpost ... stcount=19
What your looking at there is a an OASYS 88 AT controller made by Fatar. It's likely they used the same design on the Pa-Series.
Regards.
Sharp.

Hey James
Many thanks - this will at least give me some clues - I took several photos when I dismembered my PA1Xpro and so will check those out for a similar AT board. I hope it is a simple as that... would make me very happy - I will still get my Korg service guy to do it as it is still under warranty.
Thanks again
Pete

The keybed specified in the Pa2x service manual is Korg part number TAS0001020, Fatar TP8 (76 key)+aftertouch+DIES. I have written to Fatar to request details of the aftertouch adjustment potentiometers. I will post their reply here. I do not know what the "DIES" option means.
See www.fatar.com, and search for TP8.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Andy,
I can answer questions about the service manual and I can give people the correct part numbers etc, but it was released to me under NDA like it is supplied under NDA to service centers. At the time Korg sent it to me they said I could use the information to assist people on the forum but I was forbidden to distribute or upload the service manual itself.
The service manual is just a set of circuit diagrams, mechanical assembly diagrams, and part numbers. There is no instructional text or description. Also there are no details of the "diagnostic mode" functionality that is hidden somewhere inside the OS.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob
Thanks

Can you see any reference to this in your PA2Xpro service manual?Sharp wrote:As far as I know the Keybeds are made by Fatar and it's also likely that they have the 2 Pot design.

I think you may have missed my earlier message as follows:
So no, there is no mention about the keybed aftertouch pots in the Korg service manual. Also, Fatar's web site service manual downloads are all password protected. So I've had to write a letter humbly begging Fatar to provide me (and hence the forum) with the information.
Most certainly the OASYS 76 note keybed is the same Fatar TP8 as is used on the Pa2x. So the link to the photographs that Sharp posted is really useful.
In the meantime I can advise you in detail how to dismantle the Pa2x so you can access the keybed to adjust the aftertouch pots. You send it to the nearest Korg service center

Hi Rob
Yes - sorry I did miss your earlier message (senior moment on my part !)
Thanks for all your help
Pete

Yes - absolutely my intention - I would just like to know if it could be a potential "pot" adjustment or a Korg part replacement - the latter will cost me about 10 weeks - Korg parts are the worst to get here (so I am told) - also, I would doubt if our local service center will have seen the PA2Xpro much - if at all - not many sold in my part of the world - I could be the only one!!In the meantime I can advise you in detail how to dismantle the Pa2x so you can access the keybed to adjust the aftertouch pots. Hi Rob.
Regards.
Sharp.
The OASYS 76 is actually a Yamaha Keybed, and only the 88 key is a Fatar. Most certainly the OASYS 76 note keybed is the same Fatar TP8 as is used on the Pa2x. So the link to the photographs that Sharp posted is really useful.
Regards.

Rob, I hear ya... thanks anyway. What I was after is the mechanical assembly diagrams, as I need to open my Pa2x. It's been going back and forth to the service center for warranty repair like a jo-jo for the past months... and every time I get it back, it has more problems than when I sent it away! Sigh!Rob Sherratt wrote:The service manual is just a set of circuit diagrams, mechanical assembly diagrams, and part numbers.
