And if you dount have any programing skills, just change the multisampels in the varius programs and get totaly new programs....just a helping handDaz wrote:This is not addressed to anyone in particular, just following up on the general point I made above.
People keep asking for more sounds which I totally understand, but I wonder how much people are really embracing the ability the instrument offers to create new sounds yourself without hours of sound design (see above). It sometimes seems people are missing that boat from what I read here (not just in this thread). You can take even a GM Program and really sculpt it to fit a specific need using just Tone Adjust.
Daz.

BTW: Many ask for new sounds, pleace tell us everyone what kind of sounds is it you miss or need?????

Okay, I like that. I am going to take your advice and if I am even modestly satisfied at the results then there will not be another word from me about lack of sound support from Korg.Stralner wrote:[

Hehe pleace tell me anyway

I´m thinking: Not useing the varius synth options in the Oasys is like haveing a cool Ford mustang 2008 in the garage but no key´s to drive it with, lets get some synth programing talk going here with a lot of exampels for the beginners to understand.

Hi ucandream, (great name, Serious!)
We talked earlier today and I spoke my 2 cents and you spoke your's. It was cool and still is brother! We all are entitled to are personal thoughts and I think I see where you are coming from but, I just gotta say some more. (hope it is OK brother cause I'm just trying to help.)
I can only speculate that I understand how you feel because I really have No Idea how you feel other than the things you post here. I Think you spent some real money and don't feel like you are getting your moneys worth. (Please correct me if I'm wrong brother.)
What are you the most upset about? Sequencer, Combi presets, Program presets, something else? Please tell us what is the real problem with the Oasys?
Heck, if you want a specific sound that is not already available on the O, Please let us know. I would be pretty sure someone can help with that, just ask?
I am wishing you the best and if I can help you, It would make me happy.
Best Regards,
Rick

Hi, just one remark of someone who started with a DX 7
as the first synth:
It took really lots of time to get a usefull sound out of that DX 7 synth, but it was worth discovering the "inside". After this I did the same with my Roland, Kurzweil, EMU, Yamaha, Waldorf etc over the years and even if I´m not a "sound programmer" I now know where to put my fingers on to get a specific result.
So I think it is worth to take the time to get a little more familiar to your synth because even if thousands of sounds are given to us, the one specific you need or have in mind, probably will be not included. But there are so many sounds in the Oasys that a sound that nearly matches what you have in mind can quite easily turned to the result.
Don´t get me wrong, first of all I´m also a consumer of sounds and it is great to have more sounds etc, but when I look at the Oasys all kinds of sound cathegories are already in this synth, so you have a good base for easy changes.

I didn't vote here because the alternatives didn't make much sense to me. Currently I find it difficult to free up additional time for programming sounds (Meaning: I could program new sounds, but I do not want to take the time for it). It's not my major focus in making music. Therefor I buy all additional sounds I like and would be happy if Korg releases some more (or Karo, Sharp, Eric - or Peter
).
Still I do not feel as Korg let us down here. There are already more sounds available as I can store at a time in the Oasys, there are more than I can overlook - I'm always surprised about what I discover when searching for fitting sounds for a piece of music. So - we've got a lot to chew on and basic tone adjust is easy for unexperienced programmers, too.

Well, not to date myself but my first synth was a mini-moog I picked up in the 70's. It didn't come with any pre-set sounds at all. In those days, you wanted a sound you had to program it. Over the years, with many different synths since then, I have become used to having presets available in the pallete. But be honest; don't you all tweak even those presets? It seems that almost always something in the sound needs adjustment, if only a new lead sound in a combi or adjustment to the effects section, etc. It seems only natural. Maybe I'm missing something in the course of this conversation.
Now I don't consider myself a programmer and I do appreciate radical new sounds that are masterfully crafted by true gifted designers. That said, I get the most satisfaction rollin my own
, even if not done from scratch.

I am in between. I don't really require new sounds, but neither am I a sound designer. Both options are a bit too extreme for my liking.
