My wish is to have the current keyboard work with its current features. Such as uplodaing styles and file folders in proper mapping. I changed 4 peoples mind from buying this keyboard because they want to be able to change styles on the fly and right now it takes 20 minutes. You have to do complete format and library installation and then upload another style if you want it to sound like the original. If i dont do this my mapping is all off my drums are all mixed my ,,forget it..i will not give it thumbs up until they take care of this issue which is suppose to be in OS1. They should not even release the keyboard with such issues. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to Korg for workign keybaord Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa to korg for putting in features that dont work!! lol

Hello AK,
Even though I have been very critical of the style management issues myself, I think you are overstating the case. I replied to another post from you to advise how styles can be safely exchanged and loaded without causing any problems whatsoever.
The difficulties you have experienced may be caused because of one of these issues:
a) The styles may have made use of user sounds which are not portable/ shareable.
b) The styles may have made use of modified factory sounds which are not portable/ shareable.
c) Instead of the style configuration parameters being saved into the style with a "write style perf" and "write STS", the configuration may have been saved into a Performance or a Songbook entry. Performance and Songbook configuration of styles is not portable between keyboards.
d) You may have unprotected (unlocked) your factory sounds and styles. You may have unprotected (unlocked) your global memory settings. You may have loaded .SET files from other people that contain their GLOBAL memory or factory style backups, or their SONGBOOK. Their backup settings may have then corrupted the settings on your keyboard.
By sticking to the simple guidelines per the other reply I sent you, there is no problem developing and sharing and loading styles. It is completely unnecessary to have to "format" and perform "library installation" unless you are doing something like blindly loading other people's .SET file memory backups without understanding the dangers or consequences when the memory on your own keyboard becomes overwritten.
I would understand if you complained about a limitation concerning sharing styles that use user sounds. But that does not cause the problems you mention or the need to "format" and perform "library installation".
Re: What are you wishing for in OS 2.0 in Pa800/Pa2xpro?

Well given Korg's rather bold statement in the announcement:
korgpa.com wrote:exciting new features that will make you think it is a whole new keyboard
I would go for.
........

New Karma parts to sit alongside the arranger parts (controlled from the pad switches perhaps).
........

Enhanced drawbar modelling similar to NI's B4 for example.
.........

Compatibility with M3 programs including better effects translation (Haven't Korg always maintained the RX technology is more akin to the M3 EDS technology?...though I have my doubts given that the PA800/PAX2 can import Triton sounds and the M3 cannot.....so it seems more like a Triton engine to me).
.........

300 new enhanced modern styles, like you can get out of the M3 Karma module.
.........

Some new enhanced samples (probably essential for M3 compatibilty) and programs to fill up the spare flash ROM that Korg built in when they designed the board.
.........

USB interface to support low latency Audio not just MIDI.
.........

Enhanced control of the sounds, i.e. Korgs version of super articulation.
It may be a bit tongue in cheek but seriously it's a very bold statement that Korg are making, it's these sort of things that would make me think I had "a whole new keyboard"....I hope they do not let me down

Given that KORG already have all this technology in house it doesn't seem too much to ask does it?
Sorry Korg but a few changes in each of the modes with some extra lock features and enhancements to the OS really will not cut the mustard with such bold marketing
I would say it's already a really great keyboard, but then you might get too complacent
Paul.

If you want all that M3 stuff Kara ect too) ...I have been told get a M3 to use along side the PA as even though the PA2/Pa800 does use the same engine as M3...the file structure and everything else is not the same at all.
Heck, you can't even use any M3 sounds.
Meaning no compatability.
I don't think Korg will make the PA series compete with M3 but who knows what could happen?

Hi,
What a brilliant post Paul.
Some of what you have said is a little technical for me, but things like the drawbar enhancement is not beyond the Korg engineers capability.
I really think that Korg are pinning their hopes on this O/S. They are keeping details very hush, hush, have you noticed how Trammanoni from Italy has gone to ground? He rarely posts on the forum now !!!
I know that when I visited the Music show at the Excel Centre in London last month, the Korg guys were really put out that I knew about the forthcoming O/S upgrade.
One thing is certain, they will be doing their best to spoil Yamaha's launch of the Tyros 3.
Let's just hope that as Frank Carson say's " it's a cracker ".

Suggestions for new OS for pa 800

I use Korg keyboards for 12 years, so I think I deserve to take part in creating my future instruments! Me and my friends need some new features of PA 800, previously found on TR or Triton LE. As you probably know, musicians in Serbia use your instruments over your expectations and final result is amazing, but sometimes we are simply limited by software. For new release, we suggest you to:
- enable at least one independant user scale, to be applied on upper 2 or 3;
- enable keyshift for ALL uppers in SEMITONES (so playing in terza will be possible, like Tr or LE)
- enable LOCK function for dial, so we can use it just for tempo changing, not other values when playing live with styles, and
- add master compressor effect (like you put EQ) and make some good PC editor!
I hope this will help you to make even better keyboards and get more and more customers. For further informations, you can contact me via e-mail. Thank you!

Hello Ostap,
If you want to make sure Korg receive and respond to your worthwhile suggestions it would be better to contact the Korg distributor for Serbia who I believe is Sky Music, email address: info@skymusic.co.yu. The postal address for Sky Music is also given on Korg's web site
www.korgpa.com
You should ask them to forward your suggestions to the development team in Korg Italy. If you do it this way, it will have more impact than via Korg Forums.

That idea with the terza is very good. They can add it on the ensemble. It's the only thinh missing in ensemble and many of us use it.
It's very usefull for all greek,serbian,eastern-european musicians, for folk music, isn't it?

Korg should add a performance transpose lock function. i want to be able to transpose on the songbook, but have the performances not changing the transpose.
