Japanese Versions:
Zero4 Win: http://www.korg.co.jp/Support/Download/ ... 4/win.html
Zero4 Mac: http://www.korg.co.jp/Support/Download/ ... 4/mac.html
Zero8 Win: http://www.korg.co.jp/Support/Download/ ... 8/win.html
Zero8 Mac: http://www.korg.co.jp/Support/Download/ ... 8/mac.html

English Versions:
Zero8 Win: http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm ... fileID=784

I checked the Zero8 Windows English patch against the Japanese one, and they had the exact same size and timestamp, so I'm pretty sure you can use the Japanese ones just fine.

The English instructions for the zero 8 seem fine. Here is what I can make from the Japanese instructions for the zero 4.

Checking the current version:
1. Turn on your ZERO4 while pressing and holding BPM CH SELECT 2 and CUE SPLIT buttons.
2. The version will be displayed in the BPM DISPLAY.
3. No clue. :)

Enki's Note: I would unplug your monitors from the ZERO4 before going on, as I got a large pop when when following these instructions.

ZERO4 system update (Preparing the ZERO4):
1. With your ZERO4 powered off, connect the FireWire cable to your computer and ZERO4.
2. Turn your ZERO4 on while pressing and holding the BPM CH SELECT 1 and KEEP buttons shown in Figure 2.
3. Check that the SYS.U message flashes in the BPM DISPLAY.
4. Do not proceed until the FIREWIRE LED lights up as shown in Figure 2.

Enki's Note: In step 2 below, Out Port is "ZERO4 MIDI OUT 2" and In Port is "ZERO4 MIDI IN 2". All other boxes are unchecked.

So far I've only been able to get to step 4 of the next section. It gets half way through the update, then it times out before writing. I'm not even sure what it's doing in the first half. If anyone has any suggestion of what I'm doing wrong, I'd be happy to hear 'em. :)

ZERO4 system update (Running the Updater):
1. Extract the downloaded file. Double click on ZEROSystemUpdater.exe in the System folder to start up the application (Figure 3).
Note: During this process a dialog box stating, "Update device is not found" may appear. If this happens, click [OK] to close the dialog box and return to the procedure.
2. Click on [Config...] in the menu bar to open the Setting MIDI dialog box. Set the MIDI port as shown in the figure below.
3. Click on [File] in the menu bar to select the ZERO4 system file, "ZERO4SYSxxx.vsb" (xxx for the version number), in the System folder.
4. Click [Update] as shown in figure 4 to start the update (Figure 5).
5. You should now see a "Now Updating... (Writing x)" message appear as shown on Figure 6. This process lasts approximately 5 minutes.

Do not power your ZERO4 off at any time during this process.

6. When the update is completed (Figure 7) The LCD will stop flashing and will remain lit.
7. Power your ZERO4 off and disconnect the FireWire cable.
8. Turn on your ZERO4 while pressing and holding BPM CH SELECT 2 and CUE SPLIT buttons and verify the version as displayed.

Just to let you all know the first time I tried to update, it failed on the korg...

Then I just restarted the korg and did the update again making sure the mac did not go into a "sleepy" mode and it was fine..

I got the update installed on Windows XP.

The trick is to keep the mouse moving the whole time. If you let it sit, then the install gets fubar'd.
