and encouraged me to go for that rather than black.
not really worried what colour it is as long as it works!

i definitely prefer the look of the black one.
mine was out of stock, so i ordered it through djwarehouse
when i came in to pick it up, it was all wrapped in black plastic
got out of the store, hopped on a tram that was waiting at a stop (it was the last one on the line)
there had been a pipe burst in the street, the intersection was under water, they needed to turn a switch thing in the road, so that the tram would change sides of the road when it starting driving the other way.
2 guys were trying to lever it..
my tram was just parked, not going anywhere.
i peeled back the black plastic, and realised i had a white one,
i hopped off the tram, walked back to the store
spoke to the guy (the store had just closed, but he was hanging around making music on one of the computers there)
he went out back, and grabbed another one, we opened it up
it was black!
i left the store, hopped on the same tram
and it started moving

I just noticed you're a semi-local. I actually bought mine in Hong Kong - they got their first shipment about 3 hours before my flight home was due to leave. I had to hang around in the shop waiting for the truck to arrive, with all my luggage. Where is DJ Warehouse? I go to Melbourne a few times a year.
I'm glad I got the black one because I loaned it to Combichrist when they were out here last year and it came back covered in the black camouflage cream they were wearing on stage. I opened the case and practically s**t myself when I saw it. Then I remembered about the camo cream and it cleaned up easily with a damp rag. I doubt the white one would have remained pristine after that. Obviously the keyboard player had been sweating and it had got all over his hands.

they had awesome specials when they opened.
i was about to get my uncle to buy me a micro-x and a novation 61SL from the US while he was there for work.
then got a phone call from the drummer in my band asking if i'd heard about this sale (which was on that day!)
they mostly sell dj gear (as you'd expect) as well as a few other electronic bits and pieces, the 2 keyboards on special were the ones i wanted!
had to queue for about 2 hours, but it was worth it
but yeh, except for the occasional sale, australian music stores in general are so ridiculously expensive compared to online US retailers.
so i think i'll be getting gear overseas in the future too.

You need to be careful because if anything breaks, you won't get warranty service here. I've had one extremely bad experience which ended up costing me around four grand [a DSS-1 my parents lugged back from Hong Kong for me about 20 years ago had a hairline fracture in the mainboard and was a complete write-off]. I only buy stuff overseas now because I travel a lot with my job and I know I can return anything that breaks. But if my microX wasn't such a stupidly cheap deal [about the same price as yours] I wouldn't have bought it. If you shop around you will usually be able to get a reasonable deal. I can get 25% off retail most places for any big purchase and you may be able to squeeze even more out sometimes. Most of the time, you probably won't need warranty service but even when I was trying to find out about software updates for my microX when I discovered how horrendously useless it was for live work, the local distributor [Music Link] basically told me to get lost. Second-hand is a different situation as you won't get a warranty either way but for new I think its worth paying a premium to get it locally most of the time.
