First, ignore the dates above as they are the modified dates and they correspond to the time I unpacked the zip file.
However, the Create dates for the 8 files of version 3.0.4 are all "12/7/15 5:50 PM"
I just looked at the 8 files for 3.0.3 and their dates are all "12/21/15 4:59 PM or 5:00 PM"
In other words, the 3.0.3 files were created and packed by Korg AFTER the 3.0.4 files were created and packed.
Do the create dates match what you guys have?
If I recall right there are nine files required on the usb stick.
8 files plus 2 Directory folders .

8 files plus 2 file folders containing more files.
I found that the update works with just the nine files without the Manuala folder.
Worth a try?

Try this and let us know how that goes?
That was worth a shot. Unfortunately, it didn't make any difference. The Kronos still read the drive (flash drive light flickered) and I got the same error.

Are you doing a quick format instead of a full one ?
Perhaps the usb stick isn't fully erased....??
Have you tried the other usb port ?
As you can see.....I'm still guessing.....

those files and sizes look accurate. I compared them to my D/l version on my mac. When I drag and drop these onto a USB I always get a clean result.
Let us know when you move these files to a new USB. Kronos and the updater does not like any other files or hidden junk files on the USB.
It sounds like you are following the step by step install. Just make sure you are not improvising on that.

I assume you are first starting the Kronos and then inserting the usb?
That is the process.
After fully starting go to Global and drop down the menu to select Update System....

I did do a full format on the Kronos. I first transferred the 3.0.4 files and when they kept failing, I decided to try upgrading to 3.0.3 to see if it would work, because I had read the other threads about some flash drives not working, etc.
The 3.0.3 upgrade went smoothly and it was after loading and then deleting the 3.0.4 files that failed. I then deleted those and put the 3.0.4 files back on but I didn't format the flash drive again.
So, I'm going to try another full format on the Kronos and a fresh transfer of the 8 files and 2 folders one more time just for giggles.
I'll let you know.
P.S. It's weird that the K defaults to quick format FAT16 when it needs FAT32. I always have to change both options.

There are just 9 files. There are not 2 folders as well.
This seems to be your problem.

After formatting....using the pc, examine the usb stick for hidden files.

?? I think you're mistaken. I listed the root directory above. GregC has confirmed the file sizes and I've seen the listing in other posts.
There are 8 files (listed above.)
The two directories are:
mnt (which is empty)
Manuals (Which has sub-directories for each language)
If you still believe that there are 9 files and no folders, please list what you have so I can compare it to the list in my post above.

You are correct. It's not 9 files, etc

Oh, well. I gave it the old college try with a full format and fresh transfer. I even extracted the files from the zip again just to be sure. No luck.

Is it possible that your PC has some virus?
