I'd rather not. The topic is interesting and I'm interested in educated and respectful posts but it was just pure garbage wasting my reading time.X-Trade wrote:How about everyone just stops posting to this thread then?
So, I think Atom is probably more than a million times more powerful than the 8080 I used with a friend back in the 80's to build a synth, hence I guess it can more than do the job in the Kronos if fed with proper code and put in a circuitry that is aligned (like sensible interrupts, bus mastering, etc.).
I wouldn't be surprised if there was some reserve still in it for future software upgrades (maybe more effects, another engine, etc.) - the generic purpose CPU would hint something like that to me. Hence I'm not sure a stronger CPU makes sense in this application, does it? Anyone has more information about it?
Did anyone notice that a certain stench just disappeared? Reminds me of the Irish Spring soap slogan: "Fresh and clean as a whistle."Sharp wrote:This is Trolling.

It's a strange phenomenon which has been around for a number of years now that whenever Roland or Yamaha or now KORG would launch a new workstation, suddenly out of thin air someone pops up with no other purpose than to attack the company's new workstation and the people participating on the forum.
It happened on the Roland Clan forum when the Fantom G appeared, and on the Motif forum as recently as when a few months ago the Motif XF was presented, and now the KORG forum just after the launch of KRONOS.
Just google for Foleycore, and you'll see what I mean.
What possesses someone to continue this kind of game for so long?
It sure is a very strange phenomenon.

Please don't tell me that Lucky Charms, corned beef and cabbage, and green beer aren't authentic too? Nooooo! We Americans mostly can't tell the difference. Proof: Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Kevin Costner as Robin Hood.Sharp wrote:There's no way in hell that came from Ireland. That's what we call here Americans trying to sound like Leprechauns, not the Irish.

I never knew that whistles were particularly clean or that they represented some sanitary standard. If I didn't wash very well would I be half as clean as a whistle? Can anything be cleaner than a whistle? Is it OK to bring a whistle into a hospital? Anyway, now that I know those are not real Irish people in that commercial, I'm for sure not buying it.
But Korg doesn't seem to be pitching the Kronos as an open architecture like OASYS.
Well, it should be just like any computer. If a program isn't actually running it doesn't cost any CPU power. So I'd imagine you could add another sound engine and the total polyphony wouldn't change too much. But that sound engine should take up some RAM space.synthjoe wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if there was some reserve still in it for future software upgrades (maybe more effects, another engine, etc.) - the generic purpose CPU would hint something like that to me. I agree. I much prefer "fresh and clean as a 1600Hz sine wave with less than 1%THD." Doesn't make a very good jingle, though.JimH wrote:I never knew that whistles were particularly clean or that they represented some sanitary standard. To stay on the topic I'd suggest fresh and clean as an Atom clock. Makes a better jingle, innit?xmlguy wrote:I agree. I much prefer "fresh and clean as a 1600Hz sine wave with less than 1%THD." So many reasons... between jealousy, frustration, stupidity, pleasure to be an a$$, but also and nonetheless, some personal interest.Jan1 wrote:It's a strange phenomenon which has been around for a number of years now that whenever Roland or Yamaha or now KORG would launch a new workstation, suddenly out of thin air someone pops up with no other purpose than to attack the company's new workstation and the people participating on the forum.

Who knows if it's not someone paid by another company to try to diminish the Kronos interest and future customers potential?
We saw lately companies paid by developers to write feedback comment on Apple App store for their apps, and write bad review for competitors apps... It's just called disinformation and a great marketing tools today

I personally did worked for another keyboard company, but I keep my own thinking and opinion... and when someone like Korg does release a great product, I don't see the point of trolling it... I enjoy the news and congrats the dev team... It's called being honest, I think.
my 2 cents,
Phil

Folks;
When people like "Macalister" sign on as a guest, I can't help to wonder if he or she is simply a spy for the competition, any "Knuckleheard" in the world knows that you mainly buy an musical instrument for the sound it makes, everything else is frosting, and Korg makes a great cake, even the OASYS is still great, and it has nothing more than a "Pentium 4", but it kicks Boo Tayy.

Even Formula 1 cars only use a 2.4litre engine... and they give out 750 horses.Francois wrote:God, my Subaru Impreza only has a 2.0 litre engine. It must be crap then because for the money, they could have put a 4.0 litre couldn't they ?!

Used to be more, but it became regulated. However I digress... Modern F1 cars are certainly no slouches.
