Creating physical modeling from Custom Algorithm w/FM engine

Post by WaveTable30 »

Hey there,

So, I've been busy trying to mimic physical modeling - to create acoustic instrument sounds, with my OpSix. Almost all of them I've done with custom algorithms, with all six user carriers turned on.

I created a few 'basic' math formulas, on which FM feedback matrix slots to fill in and which to skip, which is what led me to doing this weird experiment.

Anyway, Ive made about 8 or so sounds so far: a couple woodwinds, some reeds, a bagpipe sound, and a modal resonator like sound which sounds less natural, I guess - but on some of those, to be fair, I did use a comb filter / effect operator - modulator.

I've made frame drum sounds, also a tambourine sound as well [using fixed ratios as well].

I guess I'm writing this to see what sort of similar thing others have made, using custom algorithms? Or what way out sound have you made with it?

And what is the most obtuse or difficult engine on opsix to create sound with? For me its the ring modulator engine - Ive just not made a lot of sounds using it yet.
