M3 LCD Screen issues

Post by yoshi88 »

A good friend of mine who lives remotely has a KORG m3 -88 since new.
After 10 years there were LCD/ Touch screen assembly issues.
He mentioned that new touch screen was installed to the original display.
Currently the LCD illuminates with a blank blue light and no characters.

His M3 plays PROG/ COMBI etc, but there is no navigation or menus visible from the blank screen.

Now if any of you have had experience with poor connections centered on the M3 LCD/Touch screen assembly please feel free to add of few thoughts.

I have suggested he reopen his m3 module and carefully examine all connections for integrity.

1 ) Are there any areas where the LCD/Touch flexible ribbon cabling & connectors can be accidently reversed?

2 ) Where is a good source for the LCD , Touch screen or both as an assembly that are KORG m3 compatible?

3 ) Can the M3 menus and navigation features be accessed remotely. Like Notebook, laptop etc?

one last thing: Power supply issues be responisble

Your thoughts are totalloy appreciated.

Does the cscreen contrast control, just to the right of the screen, do anything?

The M3 Editor software can be used to control various aspects of the M3's operation from a Mac or PC. The editor is downloadable from here:
