Using Pa4X in a Live Band
I am looking for some suggestions of what would be the best and convenient method to use the Pa4X in a live band with a drummer and a bassist
without using the Styles or simply using the Pa4X like a synthesizer without using styles.
Personally I was thinking to make a Set-List for each song (with song's name) that will include 4 keyboard sets assigned to 4 different sounds.
Now my question is what's the suitable mode among the Style Mode, Song Mode or Sequencer Mode for this project?
And am looking for a way to prevent hitting the Start/Stop button accidentally to not trigger a style while performing with a live drummer and a bassist?
Any suggestion is welcome.

Hi BR
Use STYLE mode if you want to split/layer sounds - mute the drum/Perc tracks and then create your SONGBOOK (& setlist) entries
SONGBOOK remembers all so hitting the START accidentally will be fine as long as you've muted those tracks.
Cheers

Pa4X works flawlessly as strictly a workstation as follows :BR wrote:Now my question is what's the suitable mode among the Style Mode, Song Mode or Sequencer Mode for this project?

- Set Balance knob clockwise at the full right position , this will exclude any accidental start of styles / bass etc
and will not participate at audio output.
- Use STYLE mode and use only Keyboard Set Library buttons to pick up your performing combination sound.
- No need to mention that you have to prepare your custom KBD Set there of 4 or less SOUNDs with the required KBD splits/FX.
Hope this helps

Just FYI, I tried to set the Balance knob clockwise at the full right position and I still hear the Accompaniment of the style.
I tried it with Factory styles and User styles, the same result.
Thanks anyway for your suggestion.

Re: Using Pa4X in a Live Band
Sorry for misleading , this works in Pa3X , I haven't tried it in Pa4X , but still don't mind , there is a better solution :BR wrote:I tried to set the Balance knob clockwise at the full right position and I still hear the Accompaniment of the style.
Create an initial style , record one track and one note for 4 measures , then delete this note , add to Drum & bass
track an empty Sound position and save style as "Workstation Mode" ... Done !
Add this Style to "My Settings"

I've done almost the same thing by different way by choosing a random style and muted all style tracks and building my keyboard set on it.
Thanks anyway.
Add a guitarist...
and KISS..
to me just using the keyboardparts in a band makes playing life much simpler, less stressfull and a much more enjoyable experience..
The drummer does not have to worry about a klick..
And you have way less work setting things up...
I would only use backings where they are absolutley required...

While playing in a band we don't have to worry about accompaniment parts and all setup like volume, effects and bass, drum/percussion quality, balance, etc...

The great difference by choosing your solution is that a valid style muted while playing can consume half of your Pa4X polyphonyby choosing a random style and muted all style tracks
and also existing midi events of FX will delay DSP proccessor and will affect smooth transition when changing KBD SET.

That's a great and important information.AntonySharmman wrote:The great difference by choosing your solution is that a valid style muted while playing can consume half of your Pa4X polyphonyby choosing a random style and muted all style tracks

Just by curiosity, if the style is on Stop position, does it still consume half of your Pa4X polyphony
and also existing midi events of FX?
Thanks

Midi events do the same function of playing keys like your fingers , if style is not running or no sounds are selected
then no polyphony limit occurs.
then no polyphony limit occurs.
