On the M1, you can adjust a Pitch EG independently on each OSC, but in the Kronos HD-1, it looks like the Pitch EG is tied toegther for both OSCs. According to the manual:
The single Pitch EG is shared by both Oscillator 1 and Oscillator 2.
Is the only way around this to create two single OSC programs, then combine them in a combi?
You're right, there's only one Pitch EG for OSC1 & OSC2.
I take a look to the Parameter Guide of the KROME, and...
the KROME has the same limitation : it does not have Pitch EG per oscillator. 8)

It would be interresting to find how a such M1 Program is transformed on the KROME with this latest released library of M1 for KROME.

Is there a KROME user that can help on this point ?

as far as i can tell so far, the only time the pitch e.g. is set separately for each osc, its the exact reverse of the first one, which is replicable using the +/- function on the pitch e.g. intensity. for the most part this is all i see, i am yet to come across any programs with two radically different pitch eg's

ironically i just looked at the universe patch on my m1 plugin, and noticed two completely different egs :P guess i should check before opening my mouth

luckily in this particular case, the e.g. finishes its modulation well and truly before the choir sound fades in, so it ends up having no audible effect

My Version

Post by sunriser111671 »

OK, I took a shot at creating my own version of a M1 to KRONOS converter (my biggest motivation is to get my M1 Plus 1 instrument/multisamples into my KRONOS).

Here are the key features:
  • Load SYX program files or load directly from M1 via program data dump
  • Manipulate all M1 parameters (except FX at the moment) of all instruments loaded
  • Auto sync of M1 parameters to each equivalent KRONOS HD-1 parameter (still under development)
  • Send Converted KRONOS programs to KRONOS via SYSEX (still under development)
Requirements:
  • Windows XP/Vista/7 (32 or 64)
  • .NET 4.0 installed
  • Uses WPF for GUI and C# language
Download link:

www.flexmediasoftware.com/M1ToKronos001Setup.exe

I'm hoping a few people can download and test the M1 load/datadump functionality and report back with problems or success.

Also, if anyone is interested in helping me determine equivalent paramters in KRONOS to match M1, send me a message here!

Thanks!

Good luck with the application... in case you have additional questions, feel free to ask.

how simple it would be to just program this into an upgrade.

That's really weird, the Triton series also had dual pitch EGs I think.

M1 multisamples

Post by glenny g »

I am about halfway through sampling all the waveforms on the M1. Combined with a M1 to Kronos converter program that loads sysex, you would have a complete M1 in your Kronos.
Was the converter finished? Where can I get it?
Thanks!

For what it's worth, here is the new location of the software:

http://bakyardsoft.com/bakyard/M1ToKronos051Setup.exe

Don't expect too much from it. The synth engine for the M1 and Kronos are vastly different and you'll still need to do tweaks to it.

Also, I no longer support it since I no longer own a Kronos.

Good luck!

Is there any news about the result? It will be great to have this collection of M1 waveforms :-)

Thanks!

Hello, Sharp!

Have you finished your app, or have it become abandonware?
Anyway, it was a nice idea.
May be later I'll take that on too, using HIASM IDE.

sunriser111671, thank you for the app, but I have tried this converter from the link, but it seems it only copies some EG envelope settings, and relies on samples from M1 already present and loaded in sampler. It always creates a mere piano, whatever patch I send to Kronos.

May be I do something wrong way, plz correct me.

@Aziz1008,

Yes, you are required to supply your own samples of the M1 to the Kronos and apply them to your Kronos Programs, then use the editor to manipulate EG and other parameters.

Keep in mind that the Kronos default samples do contain SOME M1 multisamples. You'll just need to search for them.

Good luck!
