Output of Pa4x is too low

Post by dai phan »

Hi all,

I connect the PA4x directly to the Yamaha HS-80 speakers/HS-10 sub but the output is not loud enough even with maximum volume at 127. So I had to run through my mixer that puts some buzzing into the speakers. Anyone has luck connecting to the speaker with loud enough volume? DP

You can boost the volume from inside the Maxx menu.

I've noticed that the Pa4x has grounding issues. I'll plug my PC3 into any amplifier I want and all is clean. But with the Pa4x some of the amps have a slight buzz like in the old days. I tried lifting the ground and putting it thru a DI but nothing seems to work. It's not enough to make a big deal about, but it seems funny.

Same here. I am putting the PA4x and a Tryos 5 through a mixer to my Rokit5 studio speakers. The Pa4x produces a buzz but the Tyros does not.

Korg Pa4x has balanced Audio Output: Left/Right, Out 1, Out 2; (1/4" Jack).
Just use Balanced Cable, if this doesn't help and you still have ground loop noise, then you got malfunction unit (Korg or Audio system ).

Don't really understand how the output signals of the Pa4x are considered too low unless both products have a fault and both are effected. FWIW - I have no trouble get a hot signal out of the Pa4x into my Studio Desk, Small Combo used for practices or into a Large Sound System at gigs.

+100

I don't understand why people instead investigate problem jump straight to blame Korg . So much hate here lately.

To everyone out there I am still alive and reading all the requests for help and guidance.

However I must agree with Nemik, ( I think he is saying) that a lot of the questions which are asked could, in many cases, be readily answered by looking in the manual. It is often the case that when searching for a solution on a particular problem one reads and learns about something else.

This keyboard (like a computer) is so powerful that I will never be able to use or understand all its capabilities, so I enjoy what I do use.

So my comment to all out there (and a reminder to myself) if you have a problem, read the manual first to try and resolve it. If you resolve your problem you may wish to share how you did it on this forum. You never know how many other people may have the same problem and you could be helping them.

Best wishes to all

I used yesterday my Pa4X for the first time in a gig and connected it with a dual TRS 1/4" cable (Balanced).
The signal was very strong and no noise at all according to our sound engineer because I asked him if there was any noise. No problem in my side.

Everybody I know who own Pa4x they are very satisfy of quality Audio outputs, I don't understand why someone have noise or low signal, my guessing is have to be connection problem (cable) or Audio system. :?

..... or faulty Korg, but definitely is no problem with Korg Pa4x OS.

At the risk of stating the obvious, cables and their connectors are the components that usually cause most of the problems with electronics when it comes to noise, hum, low output, etc. Cables are also the things that get stepped on, coiled too tightly and malfunction the most due to misuse, dirt, dust, rodent & dog bites, cat pee and so on.

Ground loops (buzzing & hum) are also caused by sticking the cable in the wrong hole (where it doesn't belong). Guitar players are famously aware of poor quality cables, where as Keyboard players, not so much.

Aways use high quality cables with high quality connectors to avoid hum & buzz and also use "Tip Ring Sleeve" (TRS) connections whenever possible like BR mentioned.

If you don't yet know it, NEVER run your cables on, over, or close to ANY other source of electro magnetic fields like: other cables, power cables, TV's, refrigerators, Air Conditioners, your girlfriend's vibrator, and so on.
