Korg EM-1 Global Delay

Post by brambos »

Is anyone aware of a secret sysex/NRPN message to enable or disable 'delay send' for individual parts?

As it is the Delay is literally a Global Delay and *everything* gets sent through it. I prefer to keep my kicks and basslines dry because delays make the mix muddy; so essentially I can't use the delay in its current form.

Any tips or tricks?

Not if its like the ES-1. Yeah it would have been better if theyd have given you that. But I actually missed that master delay on the ESX/EMX, the delay options on its send effects were just not the same, that old delay was wicked!

Yeah.. It's a nice delay effect. But it's like "You want ketchup with your french fries? Then we'll also put it on your steak and your dessert!"

The ES-1 mk1 is also like this. One Delay To Rule Them All. But then Korg updated the Es-1mk2 to replace the rather useless Wah effect with delay. Too bad they didn't follow suit with the EM1.

You can flash the ES1MK1 with the MK2 firmware, it works I did it on mine, same hardware, just in a metal shell instead of th original plastic. I haven't messed with it much lately but I recall liking the global delay better I somehow think the insert delay was different but I could be mistaken....
