exporting event audio
I'm having trouble figuring out how to export the event audio that I recorded onto the memory card into ableton lite. When I recorded the event it saved it on the memory card as a .e2ev* file. In the manual it gives instructions on converting to wav. but I really just want to convert the event into wav. Is that even possible?

To my mind the event is simply nothing more than its name !.... Basically it's a s**t extra that could have been replaced with a useful tool.
There's no editing, overdubbing.... Nothing.... Crap !

Doc, I say this lightly (as I don't own an electribe yet and of course you do, so your opinion is obviously more valid than mine) - but perhaps in time electribers will find good use for the event recorder. And didn't Re-Member say that you can still affect parameters and twiddle knobs while its running? That's at least something useful right there....DrHoo wrote:To my mind the event is simply nothing more than its name !.... I think it's useful if you want to make a bunch of patterns and jam on them or if you were playing a show having that live recording function is handy but I don't understand why it wouldn't have an option to convert the file to wav...I just tried playing the file through ableton which it recorded a blank midi track instead of any of the parts that were recorded in the event track...so I'm guessing this has to be due to a lack of midi-out on the electribe?
I have said in the past that i think it might be of some use to others & yeah, that's fair enough, to each their own. That opinion i stated there about it being crap, it might sound harsh but it's what i personally think of it. I do feel kinda short changed with this box, so much so that i have left it at home while i go away to visit family for a week, it just doesn't inspire me after about 30 minutes of use. I wish i had not bought it & i won't be buying the sampler either because it too will be locked into 4 bar boring mode & probably suffering the same glitchy pattern change blip. Before this box was announced i had given up on the electribe & then my ears pricked up when i saw this. I laid my money down, tried it & found out how disappointing it really is. If you like toy boxes & work with volcas & k pads then perhaps this thing is a big winner but from an esx1 users perspective i see it as a turkey.roblabs wrote:Doc, I say this lightly (as I don't own an electribe yet and of course you do, so your opinion is obviously more valid than mine) - but perhaps in time electribers will find good use for the event recorder. Event recording files doesn't includes any audio data. I compared a pattern file and a event recording file using an hex editor. The data of the pattern files are completely included in the event recording files. If you change a pattern AFTER using it in a event recording, the event recording is not affected. The event recording file size is in the KB range. All this facts together smells a little bit like "we want to keep the option open for implementing a song mode (or: a more flexible event recording) in the future".Tarekith wrote:Likely it's just a MIDI file or similar and doesn't contain any audio in the first place. How big is the file, in MB?
Wait a second here....DrHoo wrote:Before this box was announced i had given up on the electribe & then my ears pricked up when i saw this....

So first you give up on the ESX1, get all excited about this new machine, become disappointed, yet still try to say ESX1 is somehow significantly better?
Why don't you still have an ESX1 then? Why did you give up on it? It honestly sounds like you're blaming this machine for your own creative short comings. Oh well BOO HOO! Go buy another ESX1. Problem solved.
Roland Juno-60, SH-101, TR-606, MC-505, Casio CZ-101, Yamaha DX100, DX11, Kawai R-50e // Korg R3, microSTATION, Monotribe, MS-20 Mini, SQ-1, minilogue, electribe sampler, Volca series: Bass, Keys, Beats, Sample, FM, Kick, Moog Theremin
Curious as to wether this belongs here, but since the event recording doesn't actually record the live performance; how would you go about recording yourself playing the electribe live??
I used to do it on my old EMX through ableton lite, but I haven't used it in so long that I've forgotten how to do it.

This is one reason why i normally hold back on forums. At the end of the day i have my view & i won't lie. If you wish to take it on at a personal level i feel sorry for you & if you feel that insulting a machine is a personal assault on yourself then you are taking my words out of context.Re-Member wrote:Wait a second here....DrHoo wrote:Before this box was announced i had given up on the electribe & then my ears pricked up when i saw this....

I've said what i think & i know it doesn't fit into any ideal model but that's because i have an opinion of my own. Throw some more stones why don't you !
