How can I send two channels to my desktop DAW from the M50?
IE Keys on channel 1 and a bass part on channel 2? Everytime I try this, no matter what channels are set in the sequencer, ALL notes keep going to channel one.
It is the first keyboard seq I have e er used (and I have owned yammies and rolands) that does not allow sending on multiple channels from the onboard seq unit.
Sending more than 1 channel in Seq mode...

Things you might try.
Avoid channel 1 - I could see that being interpreted as Global MIDI. Try setting stuff to run on 2 & 3 instead. If you want to make sure that there are no channels set to Global, try setting up a sequence template with all unused channels on 16, vice channel 1(G). Then sequence as normal and see if the problem recurs.
Could possibly be a internal MIDI channel (using the Korg's engine for sounds) vs. external - check to see whether the destination of each channel makes a difference.
The way you describe it MIDI channels are being merged at some point.
If that's not a behavior that was specifically set up in the Korg's MIDI filter section under the Global Menu then is is a function of either your computer's sequencer or perhaps of the interface you're using. You should be absolutely be able to send multiple channels out using the sequencer.

Thanks Bill, and I agree it should. However I have a feeling it is the Korg sequencer structure.
For example if I set the global channel to 16, it makes no difference. If I set part one (keys) to say channel 3 and part two (bass) to channel 4 it still does not transmit to channels 3 and 4 in the DAW even though those tracks are set to rx on the same channels respectively.
Oh and if I set the channels to anything other than 1, I cannot hear any sounds on the Korg either.

When playing only the M50 keys only a single channel will play at a time. When you are playing back a recorded sequence all channels will play and be transmitted.
The channel that plays depends on what mode you are in. In combi mode you select the channel from global mode. In sequencer mode you select the channel by selecting the track with the "track select" drop down. In both combi and sequence mode all tracks/timbers on that same channel will play, but still just that one channel.
If your DAW can filter midi events perhaps you could create 2 midi tracks for the same channel and filter the notes for each track as appropriate while recording. Then change the channel for one of the tracks in your DAW for playback.

I have discovered I can send the two discrete channels to Sonar using COmbi mode, however when I do this I hear NO sound from the m50. All the notes get recorded but nothing sounds, even though patches are set. If I set the combi parts back to the Gch then I can hear them again, but it goes back to sending ALL data on a single midi channel. And around we go again
