When in the editor and copying the entire user bank aa to user bank e, why do the programs not play properly? Editor says it is changing the exi to HD1.
I am doing this because Since the Karma software does not seem to have a user bank aa.

Re: Programs not playing properly when moving user bank
HD-1 banks are your ROMpler banks, or "sample banks" (strings, horns, synth samples, etc.)danah wrote:Editor says it is changing the exi to HD1.
EXi banks are MOD-7, STR-1, PolySix, CX-3, etc. - basically, banks of sounds that use modelled or virtual analogue engines. The SGX-1 (pianos) and EP-1 (electric pianos) use certain synth or modelling techniques that also put them in this EXi category, as opposed to a regular sampled piano, which would normally be a ROMpler (HD-1) program.
So, it boils down to this: There are two types of program banks - HD-1 and EXi. You can't share the two types in the same bank; it has to be all HD-1 programs or all EXi programs.
You can change the bank type. In GLOBAL mode, on the BASIC tab page, touch the dropdown menu (upper right screen). Now select "Select Program User - Bank Type." Change the E bank from HD-1 to an EXi bank or vice versa (depending on the kind you want). Now, you should be able to copy the AA bank programs.

Thank you for explaining this Mike. However, the Krosos Editor is able to copy and move bank aa but insists that they are Exi and must change them to HD1 in order to copy them, although they are orchestral samples.Mike Conway wrote:So, it boils down to this: There are two types of program banks - HD-1 and EXi. I mentioned this as a possible clue to why they get changed when moved, ie. moved up one slot number in the new bank or elements of the program are mixed with another (kind of cross linked) or some instruments just don't play.
I wonder if instead, I could leave user bank aa where it is on the Kronos and get the Karma software to create a user bank aa? I don't see that Karma will make those banks.

The KARMA software does have a limitation in that it does not recognize the "new" higher banks. If you are trying to move programs to a bank that is set differently you will either get an error or maybe it will change the bank.danah wrote:Thank you for explaining this Mike. Personally I leave User-G available for all this kind of work. KARMA software can access it, and I change to the type of bank I need before I start moving files. This is a pretty easy workflow.
