ARP Tempo 2x speed of Drum Track Tempo?

Post by engineerjoel »

I'm trying to program a patch where by the ARP tempo is twice the speed as the Drum track's tempo.

For example: I would like the ARP to run at 180 BPM; meanwhile, the Drum Track runs at 90 BPM.

For audio example: Check out factory program Bank A 039 (Direct E. Piano 1).
When I set the ARP to 180 BPM, the ARP groove is good. But, when I add the default drum track, the groove is just way too fast and erractic sounding.

thanks,

What you want to look at is the clock value as it is expressed for Arp in note values such that the values are off-set by one, i.e., drum at 1/8ths, arp at 1/4s. Not sure where that is on the M50, I know its on the arp play page of the Triton - the M50 should be similar.

You can chose (I think) from 16ths down to half notes including triplet values.

Yes, the Arp setup page, as well as P0, Arp tab has this setting. Just set the note value from 1/8 (if it was at 1/8), to 1/16th.

Alternatively, you could modify the drum track to be a "half-beat" version of itself, but IMHO, this is way more work.
