Sudden staccato/loss of damper/touchpad freezes

I searched on 'freeze', found reports of sudden staccato, but not the entirety of what I will describe.

After 2 years, I suddenly have a problem happening once or twice every session in the middle of a song.

Suddenly the notes turn staccato, the damper becomes inactive. I'm usually in setlist and sometimes I cannot choose another setlist choice. If I can, just going somewhere else and coming back resets to OK.

If the trackpad has frozen, it comes back shortly (sorry didn't time, maybe less than a minute). But I can't have this happen in the middle of a song!!

Other people described the staccato happening in SEQ, but that's not where I am when it happens. It happens in both various combi and prgs, not using drums or Karma.
