Other news.
I realised that my m50 works for example for 1 week perfectly. And sometimes it freezes.
However in the practice rooms it always freezes after a while.

So i think its because of some unstable electricity..
I will try using a stabiliser and see if ill encounter freezes.

Tried everything else. I have the latest version, ie 1.1.0. I did a reset and the problem just disappeared for a short period and came back again. What confuses me is, the keys and screen are working perfectly. It is just the lft and right panel that are going dead. There is no krg dupport here so thats the main problem.

Also when it hangs up, the drum and arpeggios still play normally. When I change the program using the touch screen, the arpeggios stop as they used to before. That means that the synth is working, except for the buttons.

Also, could someone please give me details of the capacitors that have to be replaced? If that is the problem then I have to get it done locally by a technician. So any details would help

Refer to one of Michelkeijzers' posts - I believe it was he who opened up his unit and secured all the connections. As I recall, his issue was touchscreen related. But, there have been other users who have had left/right panel issues.

So it is confirmed as a bad capacitor itself. I was doubting that there might be a loose connection somewhere. However, today, after the controls were lost, I continued playing. At one point the notes hung up, confirming it is the same issue that the others faced. Overall, I am very much disappointed. Moreover, there is no Korg Authorised shop anywhere close to where I live, or rather not there in India itself.

Contacted a few people who work on synths. They are ready to take a look.

It would be of great help if someone could give me information on what capacitor(s) need replacement. Please, as here there is no official support and we have to do it with the help of local technicians. I would be really grateful to anyone who could help me on this.

Guess that's $1000 down the drain for me if the repair doesn't work out. My first Korg experience was with the M50 and I expected better reliablity from it. Also mailed Korg support for the same query, and no replies from a day.

I request again, please shed light on the capacitors that have to be replaced.

Try securing the connections before concluding 100% that it's the capacitors. The capacitor issue (I'm working from memory here) was not responsible for loss of controls on the left & right panels - The issue only related to the freezing of the keyboard. If securing the connectors doesn't help the issue, then it would be reasonable to have the caps replaced. i don't know which capacitors were the culprits.

I was of the belief that the connections were the problem. But today, the keyboard froze. Before, only the left and right panels used to get frozen but today it was the whole keyboard. That was a shocker for me. So now the only hope is that KORG's official distributor for my country informed that they would be handling service too. However, the keyboard has to be shipped 600 miles for that, which will be apparently handled by their branch outlet in my city. Just hope that they take care of the problem. I am selling the keyboard after that and will not buy a korg again.

i have heard much of the same claims from yamaha and roland owners ect. You will quickly run out of solid options unfortunately. Just try another one from whomever and all you can do is hope for getting a non factory reject, because like it or not all companies make them and it can not be avoided. It does sound like Korg may perhaps have poor support in your region however unfortunately for you. Good luck in what ever you choose next.

Haha sorry if that comment was too biased. Frankly, I was too much amazed by the product that I fell in love with it. As obvious, the closer something is to us, the worse we feel when something happens to it. I really cant find a better alternative at that price except for the krome itself. It was very unfortunate that mine happened after the warranty period got over. Moreover, even after repair, I wont have confidence in the product. Also, this is a known issue to M50. So I feel it is better to get a different Korg at least. As I play Indian music, Mono portamento and legato are very necessary for me. Could anyone tell me if any other manufacturer offers these features below $800? If not, I would probably settle onto an X50. Short of cash so no upgrades.

Also, KORG has official distributors here, and they do offer warranty and product support. Hence, rather than not buying a Korg, I would not buy a USED korg. Lessons learnt the hard way.
