Does anyone have experience with it, perhaps!

Perhaps you wanted to say that those headphones are NOT loud enough? Well, that's because they have too much resistance (250 Ohm, not 220 ;)). Kronos' headphone output has resistance rated at only 33 Ohm, so of course DT 880 Pro will be much quieter on such output.

What a magnificent set of headphones that is, though! I have them and couldn't be happier!

Hi Jurgen !
I have this headphone (in fact 2 of them) and it is an amazing headphone it is sufficiently loud enough to play in your studio.
It is semi open headphone so you will not be completely isolated from the sounds in the room. So i cannot say how this headphone will behave in case of a noisy jam sessionroom for instance.
But what i can tell is it has an incredible neutral sound with very balanced bandwidth very low end as well as very high end frequencies are really cutting through perfectly.
I hope this will help.

Cheers

A decent headphone makes so much difference when listening to the Kronos piano :-)

I always have this discussion with my father about the realism of piano sounds in digital pianos. Now with the Kronos, the bottleneck has actually moved to the speakers/headphones you use to hear the realism that Kronos produces...

LOL, Sony 7509 are not as good as DT 880 Pro, 880s are way flatter, they have a much better freq response, and they sound more natural to me. Much better for checking out mixes because of that.

AKG K 702: My favorite for anything up to ~320€

Flat, realistic response like listening to fine studio monitors, and a much better room image (in contrast to the classical "in-head" effect of headphones) than all headphones mentioned here so far, and any others I know up to that price range.

DENON AH-D2000

Post by Product Reviewer »

The Denon AH-D2000 work well with the Kronos. They have adequate sensitivity and extended and phenomenal low distortion low bass response to 16 Hz. They have extremely smooth and extended high frequency response. They have excellent isolation because they are a closed design.

http://www.headphone.com/ has excellent data on many different phones. If you want exceptional sensitivity, the new AKG K550 looks like a good performer.

I own the Denon AH-D2000 and have measured the response using laboratory standard microphones and found results very similar to the curves at the above link. The best Sony phones are the MDR-7506 and MDR-V6. The MDR7509 and newer MDR7509HD are sensitive, but not nearly as good as the MDR-7506. I also own all three of these phones.

The Beyer 880 is available in a 32 ohm model, but it has very low sensitivity in both impedance versions and would probably require an amplifier to work well with the Kronos.

I have DT 880 Edition 250 Ohm version and find them loud enough on my M3. If I run audio through motu828 they can sound louder of course - this gives me maybe about 5-10% headroom which I don't use. If music is well mastered 250 Ohm version sounds acceptably loud to me even with Behringer UCA202 usb soundcard. I find DT 880 Edition are crisp, clean, pretty neutral and not coloured sounding - not that I am excited how they sound. Maybe little too much high frequencies than I prefer.

Form Beyerdynamic 2011 pricelist DT 880 Edition (listed in HiFi section) are available in different impendence versions - so you can pick 32 Ohm too, but it is HiFi series and I do not know how they differ from Pro series:

DT 880 Edition "Stereo headphones, 32 Ω, semi-open systems,
single sided cable with stereo mini-jack / 1/4"" adapter "
DT 880 Edition "Stereo headphones, 250 Ω, semi-open systems,
single sided cable with stereo mini-jack / 1/4"" adapter "
DT 880 Edition "Stereo headphones, 600 Ω, semi-open systems,
single sided cable with stereo mini-jack / 1/4"" adapter "

headphone.com unfortunately lists only old DT 880

The 880's are beautiful, depending on what version you get. The 770's are a piece of sh*t because they sound like sh*t. lol I HATE them. I don't care HOW accurate they are, but I can't mix on something that doesn't sound good to my ears.

$300 is a LOT to pay for a pair of '880's and personally, I find that there are FAR better models out there that can be had for much less and have a WAY better sound.

My Sony 7509 and 7509HD headphones are some of the best headphones I've ever heard and I still mix on them. I have the Shure SRH-840 and 940 headphones as well and when I heard them for the first time, I was so blown away I bought them immediately. I used to swear by my Sony 7509 and 7509HD's. Now it's the Shure's where I use them as a reference to my Sony's. Kind of like a second pair of monitors.

I have a pair of SRH-440's that I travel with and I can't ask for a better pair of headphones to enjoy when I'm listening to music on the go. These replaced my Sony V600's because of how much better they sound.

The ONLY Beyer's I like are the 880's and 990's and their home line. The rest is crap and way overpriced, IMO.

Sina
Don't know about those 7509s but I use the Sony MD 7520s. Having owned many high end headphones (AKG K1000s, Sony Qualias, Senn. 650s), I find the 7520s to be one of the best headphones I have ever used.

I've never been a big fan of Beyerdynamics but they do make a solid set of cans.

I always liked most Sonys mentioned here for just listening to music. But in comparison I detected that they aren't neutral enough for mixing purposes.
And with not I mean for my ears "not at all".

The 7520 are better than the others, but in their high price range there are still alternatives I would prefer.
