Two questions concerning samples

Post by Orri »

Hi there,

I apologize if those questions are too stupid. But I have been looking around the keyboard menus as well as through the manual and still could not find the soultions. Having owned a Triton before I did not expect it to be that hard to get started on Kronos. Did you experience this as well?

However, what I need to do is:
a) Specify a "Drum mode" for a sample, so that it is played entirely even if the key/pad is only hit for a short time and
b) assign a tempo to a wav-file when importing it, in order to change it's tempo it with the tempo fader or tab tempo later on.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Regards
Orri

For a) you will need to go to PROGRAM, press the COMMON tab (PROGRAM BASIC screen). Check the HOLD box (near lower left screen).

For b) you are thinking of Roland Variphrase technology. The Kronos doesn't speed a sample with the Tempo knob (as far as I know). However...! Time Slice will do what you want. You open up your wav in SAMPLE mode, select TIME SLICE from the dropdown menu. Roughly put, this feature will break up the wave into individual hits, assigned to different keys, and automatically create the Sequence data so you can use that Tempo knob.

For more info, see page 725 in the Parameter Guide.
