the main point of the pro is that it is chaotic...take away the kaoss pad with a keybaord and essentially you've got a $400 synth module...with only like 200 sounds...the real selling point is the pad

I get that, but it would be nice to use some of the sounds via keyboard control for making your main loops, or doing a whole song.
After all the thing is a looper. You don't want to be looping key/pad hits that just don't sound right. One wrong hit and your bank is toast.

I'll try this when i'm home over lunch.
Where exactly is this setting you are talking about?
You can always connect the Audio Out of the microKorg to the Audio Ins of the KOPro and record loops from external audio.
Really, when it comes to actual sounds, even the old microKorg is miles ahead of the KP3.
As said elsewhere, the KP3 is really about the innovative and unusual way of playing the sounds, not the sounds themselves.

Right now i have my mixer going to my Kaosspadd (which includes my MicroKorg's audio out).
And i also understand that the instrument is meant to be chaotic in a sense..
That doesn't change the fact that it would still be really cool to be able to control it with some consistency so you could do things like loop a nice bassline without having to play it 5 times over because your finger moved over square that you wanted it in.. Hell i can barely play my kaossilator with any consistency without a stylus

I'd still really recommend using the audio input on the KOPro to record the bassline or whatever from a keyboard instrument if you want precision.
That is one of the really neat things about it, it makes a great looper for external sounds.
I do agree that it would be a neat feature to control the sounds with a MIDI keyboard but it really does take out all of the 'fun' in it, I can't really see Korg changing it, hence suggesting other methods more productive than waiting for Korg to change the way it's product works.

I've never really thought of using the K-Pro as a MIDI controlled sound module.. I'm more interested in using a MIDI sequencer like my EMX or MPC to control effect changes on my KP3 because the pad motion feature doesnt loop in time, such a let down on Korg's part... time to do some experimenting. Has anyone had any luck wiring a kaossilator to a launchpad or some sort of button layout?
I'm very curious on doing a project like this. Anybody know how the pad makes contact with the EP? Also, how many notes across is the pad? I'm guessing its not just a standard button layout behind the pad & I'm hoping the pad doesn't just plug into the EP to communicate notes; as I wouldn't want to dismantle a kaoss pad just for this.

Sorry I have not -- but I just wanted to support the question. I would like to do this too. I was surprised it didn't "just work" when I hooked up a MIDI keyboard... Still looking for the solution too!
