Weird sound when a key is released
Hello everybody,
I keep on testing my new Korg M50 73 and now there is another issue that it's driving me crazy.
I have read tons of post about the Korg M50 keybd quality, and I have to say that as far as I have tested it is good for me.
However after playing for some hours a key has starting to make a weird sound when it is released. And I say weird because it's different to the sound produced by the rest of the keys.
This sound is like higher pitched and some way metallic. I have recorded it with the mobile phone. The sound quality of the recording is not really good (when you hear it live the sound of the key is more metallic), but enought to get the point.

I'm a newbie so I don't if it's normal or otherwise it'll be a source of problems in the future.
Thank you very much.

As I can see there are other people with the same problem:

I watched the video. I didn't hear a bad key compared to a good key. I don't know what you're expecting to hear but snapping a key like you did in the video is not what I would consider a normal way to play it.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
McHale, as I wrote maybe the recording audio isn't as good as I'd like, but believe me there is a difference. Other forum user has recorded other video with better audio quality for the same problem. Here it is:McHale wrote:I watched the video. I didn't hear a bad key compared to a good key. Anyway it has been enough proof for the technical support due to they are going to replace the keyboard.
To be fair, you could say that your M50 causes the sea to boil and they would probably offer to replace it.useron wrote:Anyway it has been enough proof for the technical support due to they are going to replace the keyboard.

To be honest I really think that a "I´ll replace your keyboard under any circumstance" policy isn't a good business policy.McHale wrote: To be fair, you could say that your M50 causes the sea to boil and they would probably offer to replace it.
In fact in the email I sent to them I didn't force the replacement. As you can see in this partial transcription:
By now the key response is the same as the rest of the keys (I mean it works well) but its weird sound announces that something is wrong in there.
Please let me know if you think that I it's normal or otherwise it'll be a source of problems in the future.
Its an acoustic problem on an electronic instrument.
Some of my keyboards sound pretty awful when played like this, or sometimes just normally on certain keys. Admittedly some of them I have not owned from new. But I really don't see it as a problem.
