Z1 DSPB-Z1 - Installation manual and cables?
Hi -
I just acquired an expansion DSPB-Z1 board for my Z1 but without the installation manual or cables.
Can anyone point me to a pdf of the installation guide; or perhaps photocopy yours and I'll pay for that and post and packing?
And - does anyone know where I can get the correct cables or a general spec to purchase them from an electronics outlet?
I've emailed Korg UK/Ireland support and if they reply I'll post the info here but in the mean time would appreciate any help pointers to installing this card.
Thanks,
Kevin.

How did you make out with the expansion board? I looked all over for the instruction that came with mine but couldn't find it. And I couldn't find A PDF online either. I also checked for part numbers at PIP. Nothing.

I'm afraid its still sitting in its box!
Thanks a million for lookingfor me - I'm very grateful to you for your time on that.
Korg UK actually sent me a schematic 'scan' but the quality is so poor I can't use it! And I don't have a parts list so I don't know what cables to purchase or what screws/separators to purchase.
Very disappointed by this - I've purchased a lot of equipment from ebay but this is the first one that has bitten me - in fairness to the seller they did stipulate that the cables were not included but I thought it was going to be a straight forward affair to get schematics and parts form Korg - but Korg UK at least are out of parts for this.

Here's a photo of the cables so you at least know what they look like:

I can send you a Z1 parts list if you'd like so you can take a closer look at it. I may have overlooked them.
I did find these instructions written by someone in 2001 who'd just installed the board.
1.Turn the Z1 over
2.Remove all screws EXCEPT those where the base panel has
holes cut out around them.
3. Unscrew internal voice
board from it's fastening point on the frame(it looks
just like the expansion board) -make sure you don't
short any contacts on the underside of the board
against any parts of the metal panel work etc
4.Insert and screw (from underside) the brass raising legs
provided, onto the internal voice board -so the legs are
sticking-up above the board.
5. Replace and screw down the
internal voice board again -with the legs facing upwards
from it.
6. Mount voice expansion board onto the
raised legs with screws provided in the mounting
kit.(you may only be able to secure two of the screws onto
the legs -it's a bit space constrained by the case
side!)
7. plug connectors for expansion board into the
empty sockets provided.
8. Replace back panel.
9.On powering up, if you've done it all ok the
start-up screen has a new message indicating expansion
option is fitted.
10. Breathe deeply again.

Thanks for the fantastic info, Im very grateful of your time given to this. The photo is excellent and very useful - I can bring that to a local electronics supplier with the board and hopefully source the parts.
Thei instructions are also excellent - I had opened my Z1 but didn't remove the internals because I couldn't quite see what to do - but these instructions will help for sure.
I'd be very grateful for the parts list - my email address is in my signature.
Thanks once again for your wonderful help - you may have just tipped the balance for me to get this installed.
Cheers!

Cables needed by expansion card
The cables needed by the expansion card are identical to the original cables to the voice card installed by the factory. I think there are 6 voices supplied by a chip on the motherboard. Then another 6 voices on the voice card supplied by the factory; Then another 6 voies from the expansion card.
I have a photo of a complete Z1 expansion kit but don't know how to post it here. I got the photo from a flickr album called "Korg Z1 Repair." At flickr search for JO VANDEWEGHE. Then select "albums." Then scroll down until you find "Korg Z1 repair." Then open the "album" or store the zip file to your computer.
