I have connected my Kurzweil PC88 to my PA1X Pro and it has a better piano weighted-key feel. If I modulate up with the Kurzweil (transpose +1, for example) the PA1X gets the raised key notes from the Kurzweil but it is still in its original key, so that a C chord played on the Kurzweil will be sent to the PA1X as if it was still in C (zero transpose) but as though a D flat chord had been played on it. Therefore if I want to use the PA1X keys to readily play only the PA1X sounds and not the ones additionally produced by the Kurzweil then they are out of sync as far as transpose goes and the PA1X keys play in the original key.
The PA1X Pro keys, even though they are not a waterfall profile like a Hammond B3, obviously has more of an organ feel to its keys than does the Kurzweil which are piano-like in both action and shape.
Does anyone recognize this challenge and have any advice on best practice when coupling the two keyboards.
Controller keyboard (ie. Kurzweil PC 88) to play a PA1X

I've been waiting for someone else to answer you but since no one has, I'll try. I have a PC2X and used to have the PC88. Nice keyboard. Your answer is going to be in the Kurz's midi implementation. The Korg will simply play what it receives. If a note received is a C, it will play a C.
Therefore, the question is will the Kurz transmit the transpose info? As a pure guess, I would say no because that's a strictly internal function in the Kurz but look in the midi implementation of your keyboard and see if you can find it or go to the support section of Kurzweil's website or post the question on a Kurzweil forum.
IMHO, it doesn't matter what piece of hardware, computer, keyboard, sequencer, whatever is receiving the data, the question is does your Kurz transmit it. You could look in the Korg midi implementation to see if "transpose" is a midi receive function but I don't think it is but midi can be very complex to check that out too. Good luck.

Bob thanks for your reply...
First, on the transpose issue it is easiest to use the PA1X-Pro's transpose function and then the Kurzweill MIDI send simply gets transposed as long as I check the transpose MIDI in notes... so that is all that's worth doing with that I think for now.
I'm still struggling a bit with sending that command from the Kurzweill PC88 up to the PA1X-Pro as well as other commands like ENSEMBLE on off commands etc. but that is not the biggest issue if I have to reach up to the PA1X. It's just a worthy challenge in my mind, when I am sure that there must be a way to do it.
I have recently acquired Komplete 7 plus Alicia Keys from Native Instruments and you can only imgine how much more space on my laptop feels like... 4 GIG rather than 32 meg! But the sample sizes are huge some being ten times the 32 meg! It is a new world and a very cost effective way to expand live playing capabilities. It is fun to send ensemble signals to Kontact 4 and knowing the ensemble feature operation so well... cause the NI sounds to duet etc. Having fun to say the least.

Midi can get tricky, that's for sure! The deal with Ensemble is what midi controller number triggers it within the Korg? Find that out and then find a programmable button or slider on your Kurz that can be configured to send that CC number. Maybe a programmable footswitch can do it. I know that one big thing about the PC2X is it has way more programmable controllers than what the PC88 has so I don't know if what I'm saying is feasable for you or not.
